993's are way COOL
Just could't resist sharing my feelings about the 993. I followed my wife who was driving our 993 home from picking up her car at the shop(I drove her car). I just don't get to follow our car that often and I must say the low squat rear with the out swept fenders curving down over those fat tires, the polished exhaust tips highlighted by the Iris Blue Metallic paint was just way COOL. I get goosebumps when I see these cars and how the looks just carry me away. Sorry...just can't help but share

You know...that IS the one bad thing about owning one of these cars, you rarely get to see it going down the road. I have been known to slowly pass in front of store windows in order to check my car out in the reflection That is sad...but true

It is true, we rarely get to see our own cars in motion. I lusted after the 993 since I saw the '95. It is really a strange feeling to find a really nice example right IN MY OWN GARAGE!
It's like... "How the hell did that happen?!?"
I'm sure such a fixation would be called "Unhealthy" by those in the mental health profession. At least those who don't own P-cars.
Cheers,
Chris

Allen, I would doubt that there is a single person on this board who doesn't do the same thing. I've owned my '95 for 6 years and still do it. I'm warming to the newer models but nowhere near enuf to switch.

I got my wife to do some "fly-bys" past our house so that I could video my car.
She didn't quite get the lift off (the gas) position quite right so that I could get the overun cackle on tape, and I'm sure it wasn't quite "full bore" in 2nd as I'd requested but after a dozen runs she'd had enough.
Guess that puts me right up there on the sad scale

The references above to being sad made me laugh, because I can identify with them so well.
There aren't many situations where I can admit to looking at myself drive past a shop window... I'm happy being sad!

Unbeknowst to me, at my last autoX, someone was video taping me. After the event he contacted me by email and sent me the video.
I must have watched it 200 times. It was only about 30 seconds long but I just couldn't get enough it.
I especially love watching the turbo twist tires while in motion. They really look great at speed.
Also, watching the car through the slaolm is a treat. (It also helps remind me how bad I need a suspension.)

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who loves to steal a glance at his p-car

A favorite experience, when stopped at a light, is watching the passenger and/or driver of the car behind me describing to each other the shape of the 993 rear end. I don't read lips, but the hand movements as they spread out to follow the contours of left and right fender are unmistakable. Sometimes I do a manual spoiler up/down just to add to the conversation.

I can identify with all of the above. Since I fitted the GT2 splitter and wing i think the car looks great and judging by the reaction from other road users they must do too.

You guys are right. The 993 is one of most beautiful shapes I've ever seen, and every time I go to the garage for something I linger for a few minutes and thank my lucky stars that I finally have one. Thanks for all these ingenious ideas to get a peek at my P-Car in motion. I've been thinking about asking my wife to do a "drive by" as well, but the power seat forward-back just went out and she can't reach the pedals in the back position...

You guys are soo right about the timeless lines of the car. Last night I was at a friends house and parked on his driveway which is circular and the car was positioned as such that you would see the back end when coming out of the door. As my friends saw us off their house I caught his wife literally staring the car from the back. She must have stared for a good minute or so before she realized I was looking at her staring and told me "this is a really nice car". Now that comment comes from a woman who drives an S500 or a Jag XK8 or a new M3Convertible and thinks that cars are for point A to point B transport...
On the road you see a lot of reaction for a car which essentially is going to celebrate its 8th birthday really soon... I feel so lucky though to be able to enjoy the inside view and would not change it for the world...

I guess she was thinking "baby's got back"
When I got my car back to Atlanta for the first time, I went out to wash it the next morning and my entire cul-du-sac wound up watching me wash the car and talking about it.
That same day I went to run an errand or two and wound up passing a speed trap. The cop with the laser unit was standing along side of the road and kept looking around the unit at the car and as I drove by (no I didn't get busted luckily) he gave me a thumbs up and said "nice car" LOL!
I love this ride!
