New Car - Not a 993, however...

Kevin (kev), I'm going to put the 993 up for sale, but will replace it (and maybe the Boxster as well) with a nice 993 street car. I've missed my C4S and might have to get a 993 TT...
Kevin (FSAEracer03), I haven't sold the Miata yet, but I'm trying to sell it as a "SM Kit - Ready to Assemble", for $9k or so.
John, it doesn't have a passenger seat, but I will probably put one in at some point to give rides and have instructors ride along. As for envy, I love SY GT3s and if I wasn't such a nut for racing, would have bought one instead of the Cup Car.
pin, thanks!

Hijack sort of - Curious but what of one's comments of the lack of dry sump on the 3.4 996 motors make the 996s not good track cars.
Any truth?
BTW - Gorgeous collection.

nota_troll,
The 996 GT3, GT2, and TT all use a different engine than the M96 found in the other models. Except for the water-cooled heads, these GT1 derived engines have more in common with the 964 and 993 than the 996, including dry-sump. According to "Excellence was Expected", the relatively high-production numbers for the 996 TT made it possible to use this engine for the GT3 and GT2.
I'm sure that others know more about this than I do, but I think I have the basic facts down.
Kim, an RSR will be an awesome beast. Have you seen the pictures of the pink one being run by some of the NASCAR guys? I never thought I'd find a pink car so menacing...

Wow.. Skip that is an awesome car! Did Glen had anything to do with this? I know very well what kind of bad influence he is
I hear that Matt from Houston wants to buy your 993 cup
I know he wants to turn 1.55's at TWS so he needs your car
Good luck with the GT3! I was hoping to be playing with you on the track next year at TWS... now I have no chance!

Hi Danny,
Thanks. Glenn and the other Cup guys were certainly an inspiration, but a big part of this was doing it now because I had the opportunity. This is a huge fantasy for me, and I decided to live it out.
I'm looking forward to TWS next year, and so far in my Club Racing experience it has been the best track.
seege, yes, I've heard that from a few people. I'm actually going to use 196 as the number, in keeping with the 193 scheme for the 993.

You could wind up with a garage full of cars that your wife does not know about that is bigger than the garage full of the ones she does....
Skip - Just awesome.... Keep going as I hear the new RSRs are something special...

That thing flies, and I do mean "flies", in the face of all HWFM Racing holds dear.
But it sure looks fun. There were lots of GTA cars at Road Atlanta. You're going to have a ball. Congratulations.
Hope to see you track it one day (as well as have it grace the turtle pond).

Bob, thanks! I'm stiil planning on trying to stop by and see your place when I'm in SJ for a day or so.
I figure the RSRs will start to "trickle down" in 2-3 years...

Mike, I had a "crisis of faith" about the car with respect to HWFM, going back and forth about whether or not it was appropriate. It was gut-wrenching, I broke out in a cold sweat, and the guilt was almost unbearable. Of course that lasted for all of 2 seconds...
I'm working on plans to get to more tracks next year, and I'm sure that our paths will cross. I've met some great folks from HWFM and rennlist at a couple of Club Races, and hope to meet many more in the future.
