My new to me 993 lasted just one week...

Big Bummer to hear you went through all of that! Just curios how did you like driving a 993 compared to the other model Porsches you own / have driven?
Also if you're interested there's a 96 white/tan cab with a 3.8L engine upgrade but on 10/4/2021 this one didn't reach the reserve on BAT and if interested you could contact the seller at https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-cabriolet-28/
GL with your search! Bruce.

My guess is Graham Everett MotorSport did the inspection but I could be wrong. They have a relationship with Dick and have worked on thier cars before. It's a guess but an educated one.

Well OP, your story does have a good ending. Very few dealers would do what Dick Barbour offers.
And then the saying that 'shopping is part of the fun'. Bright side is you get to do this all over again.
A 997.2 will not quench your thirst.

Sounds like a nice car. Me, I would have negotiated a discount, kept it, and had the work done. Oil leaks are straightforward to fix.

Wow.
Dealer came through, but I also have to wonder how they missed all that?
I bought my car sight unseen from a Porsche dealer. When the car arrived, the steering rack was broken. Lots of back and forth, but they finally agreed to pay for the repair at the local Porsche dealer. Using OEM reman parts, it came out to $6k. They claimed the car was perfect when it left and PPI was totally clean.
This is the risk of buying sight unseen. PPI is definitely not a guarantee that there won’t be problems.

I have expanded my hunt to 997.2's and had one fail a PPI and over-rev report yesterday. It's why we pay for PPI's.

That’s super unfortunate. Not sure how the leak didn’t come up in the PPI. Graham did a leak down test on mine and it came back with really bad results. They did the top-end rebuild and the car has had virtually no issues (just the ones typical of a 25+ year old car). I even had an oil change + analysis done in February. No metal, nothing out of spec.

I’m sorry for your experience. Like you I learned my lesson hard with a 964 I purchased out of colorado. Never been so disappointed in a car. Dealer took it back less a 2k “restocking” fee. So you were lucky with the seller…my hat is off to him.
I’ll say it again, these are expensive and old. My next one I’m laying eyes in person in addition to a good ppi….
