GAUGE WARNING LIGHT
Trying to track down a p1691 fault code. Hoping it's a bad bulb in the gauges.
I have this gauge face, but don't know what the blue circled light is for, and whether it should light on start. What is it, and should it light at start?
Thanks

Hi Rob,
P 1692 MIL (Check Engine Light fault)
MIL is on and a previous Freeze Frame is overridden
Signal implausible / Implausible Component Section / Malfunction
Did you recently change the bulb. The bulb contacts are very delicate.
Or did you put an LED bulb as a replacement to the incandescent bulb, and the ECU may not like it as it is not a resistive load the ECU is looking for.
Also, the solder connections internal to the clock are known to have issues. Reheating them is a kitchen table job involving unsoldering the clock's motor drive connections to disassemble it to get to all the solder joints.
Finally, spray out the plug & socket connectors on the back of the clock with electric motor or electronic cleaner to make sure they are clean and making a good connection.

From the picture, it looks like your rear wheel steering failed.
Did you notice any difference when you make a U-turn or back up in a parking space?
Sorry I couldn't contribute to your problem, sometimes my mind has a "mind" on it's own.

That circled light is on my oil temp/pressure gauge and it is the only one not lighting up at start, other than the ABD and brake pressure light, none of which are applicable to my car as I don't have those options.

That indicator you circled is UNUSED so won't light as part of the lamp test.

Thanks Jay. The hunt then continues as all indicator lamps that should light, do, in fact, light.

Ok, pulled the gauge, checked the connections, sprayed them with electric contact cleaner. Bulbs are fine. I recently swapped in the Turbo S Scoops and the position light plug now doesn't have a home.
Could that cause the p1691 code and CEL?

Hi
Cabrio993 posted this in 2008:
Code P1691 is "MIL (Check engine light) No signal / Control module fault EEPROM".
Since you ran the car without the gauge which also has the CEL light, the ODBII system detected no MIL(CEL) light and triggered the CEL.
So, basically you had a "Check Engine Light" for not having a "Check Engine Light"
This is the same code you'd get if your CEL light bulb is out or disconnected to hide a different CEL present.
Now that you cleared the code and re-installed the gauge you should be all good.

Thanks, read that thread, but it doesn't apply to me as I did not run the car without a gauge and my CEL works

This Light is for 'lateral acceleration sensor' malfunction warning. It is for Tiptronic .
It should not light on start.
lateral acceleration Module prevents limiter hi rev computer gear shifting, while turning hard at high speed
