David, here's a black metallic 911SC owned by member Bob's flat six. These cars are a very deep brown color, which looks great in the sun and very stealth at night...

There was an 96 Ocean Jade C4S that sold a couple of months ago in Vancouver, B.C. Very distinctive colour, in great shape. Just to give the Americans a sense of what cars go for up north, it had 42,500 miles and went for about US$52,000 from a high end dealer.

MikeAlwaysWins:
Great color, at first glance I thought it was the arena red (which I also like). Very unique that it looks similar but isn't metallic, and a bit darker. Your car looks very clean, I'd love to see your 930 - post a pic for us! And if you have anymore good pics of your 993, send them to me. I don't have any of that color.

I notice you have 4 cars listed and the one for sale is the most powerful ... that says a lot about the Porsches.

My input about Black Metallic:
(I have that color)

1. You can notice the slight bronze appearance under certain lighting conditions.
2. I love that color but think bright sunlight doesn't do much for it.
3. It looks fantastic at dusk or on a cloudy day when direct light is shielded!!!

Fluid...you see Met Black the same way I do...would love to see your cab in that color.

Mike, that is an awesome color...you are fortunate to have found that one.

CP...I've always admired that car since your aquisition...thought all along it was just "regular" black...even cooler now knowing its Metallic...awesome car

Grouchy,
Nice color combo. Did you do wheels?
No, that was one of the purchase options on the car, wheels match body paint.

Hi David,

Thanks for your kind words.

When I first saw pics of the car, I also thought it was 'regular' black color. It was only when I washed it (it sat filthy at port) that I realized that it was a dark, dark charcoal grey with bronze specks in it. An awesome color in light conditions as it changes colors almost as one walks around the car and see light hitting it at different angles.

This reminds me of the Carbon Black color for the BMW M5. Looks black in low light conditions, but a deep deep blue, which dark purple hues in daylight. I love the Black Metallic as I actually like lighter color cars. My favorite Porsche colors are Arena Red, Slate Grey, and then Speed Yellow, although SY will be much more attention then I can bear.

If you haven't seen this site, it's worth a look. Most of the pics are of Boxsters, but you can get an idea of what the various color combos are:

Yoseif's Boxster Gallery

There are some links below the form that have pictures comparing colors, special order colors, etc.
