Ohlins GB
Hey guys. Finally getting back into an aircooled! Picking up a 964 Targa and really want to give Ohlins a try. I’ve had KW V3s on my previous 993 and 964 but always excited to try something new. I think I convinced a buddy of mine who owns a shop to do a group buy if we can get enough interest. Any of you guys interested?
of course, if this isn’t an appropriate post, let me know and mods can delete.

Just a FYI for the guys interested in Ohlins R&T coilovers. The overpriced off the shelf kit was replicated by a local SF Bay Area Ohlins dealer for one of our Rennlist members who lived in Sonoma at the time. I’ve been in communication with him and the development work that was done sounds spot on. That maybe a better path for those looking for such a kit. It’s frustrating to see 2x the price of the 996/997 kits. According to another Ohlins dealer the reason for the price difference is because it’s made in Germany vs made in Japan and the low production numbers. His contact said there was nothing special going on inside to justify the $$$. The front lower clevis and monoball hats are also part of the problem. The above mentioned rennlister kept stock tophats on his.
I just found out that we can also work something out for KW's if that price point is more to everyone's liking. PM if you're interested in those!
Yes, open to all models! Send me a PM if your looking for another set
they have versions with and without top mounts. Send me a PM if your interested
This is interesting. Can you share more details? I do agree that the pricing on the R&T for our cars are a bit nuts.

I dont understand the reason why you are posting about a 964 suspension mod in the 993 forum, but you will be always forgiven from me, as long as you will have that gorgeous gt3 as your avatar.
Probably you have already considered this aspect, but if on the 993 Cabriolet and Targa Porsche didn't install M030 set up nor the 18 inch wheels, there was a reason.
Torsional resistance of the 964 was 30% lower than the one of the 993, for this reason I would avoid to go too much sporty with the new suspension set up.
People underestimate a lot the roof "effect" and even more that the drains at the edges of the roof, which are actually made of two 1.1mm metal plates coupled, and turned up to form a sort of half-H profile, make a significant contribution to resistance as kind of double profile.
The targa doesn't have anything in place of something structurally meant to be there...so, I mean, targa is a lovely 911, but I would stay more conservative, i.e. more on the comfort side towards a new suspension set up

You should absolutely give Ohlins a try. I had my R&T kit made by Performance Shock in Sonoma with standard top hats but had all other components RS or M030. It was great because they were able to tune them to be more streetable by reducing the spring rate. Honesty if you're thinking about it I wouldn't hesitate, I don't know of anybody who has put them on and isn't completely happy with them. Go for it!!
To clarify, I'm not posting about a 964 suspension mod. I'm posting about a potential group buy that I may be able to put together for Ohlins for both 964 and 993s.
Mate, you’d better post these pics ASAP.

1-owner (I’ll be #2) Forest green C2 Targa with special order black/silk grey full leather and LSD 😀. Couldn’t be more excited for this one. Picking her up on Friday and then the games begin!!
Beautiful! The 964, despite being a very modern 911, still has a very old school look, and the Targa version (from Targa Florio, sicilian road race where Porsche has won a lot ) enhances this even more.
In Sicily the weather is very similar to South California, so I think with a single name they represented the driving pleasure in a nice and warm environment on beautiful roads and the sportiness of the car.

I've been following that car, was at one point seriously interested and chat w/ Tim. Was thinking about a swap but couldn't part w/ my C2S.
I was fantasizing lowering to ROW and replacing w/ Cup I plus spacers to replicate the look shown below.
