Does anybody use the Rennline or had experience with their strut tower brace?

Thanks

Why not just get the factory bar from Gert?
The cost isn't much more, $300 for the factory bar vs. $180 for an untested design. Why risk it?

Check the archives. Quite a few people have bought one and are happy with it but there are some here who are not convinced that it's a great design. Try this <a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=007118#000000" target="_blank">link</a>.

Whatever you buy, be be sure not to overtorque the strut bolts. I think people are torquing the nuts at around 18 ft/lbs, although Robin (<a href="http://www.p-car.com" target="_blank">p-car.com</a>) has them listed at 24 ft/lbs.

i have a rennline bar. I don't think it is the best stress bar on the market. IMHO I think it does more than an adequate job & I don't believe that a B-K or factory one will do any better. I think the only stress bars that would do better are the triangle bars whereby they also mount in the front of the car. Those I believe would be considerably better. What I do like about the rennline bar is that is made of aluminum & is light weight.

Please notice I use the word believe as it is only my opinion.

I think KLA Industries ( <a href="http://www.klaindustries.net" target="_blank">www.klaindustries.net</a> ) have or will have a 993 strut brace. It's only $125. I have their 944 one (as do many others on the 924/944/968 board) and it's performs very well. Check 'em out.

Chaz,
I had one in my 993 Cab and was pleased with it; I tried several (my neighbor had 2 other brands in his garage including B-K) and couldn't find much difference. I had no issues with mouting, intall or adjustment.
My 'new' 993 had one already installed my Rennline is hanging on the wall - let me know if you're interested.

I have the Rennline and am very happy with it. Although it does block the storage pocket directly behind it. I don't know if othe products allow more clearance than the Rennline.

Thanks all,
I went ahead and ordered the Rennline bar, it was only $150, I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks again

Odds are that no strut brace actually performs measurably better than another, though perhaps there are exceptions. Among the more commonly available ones, aesthetics is probably the greatest variable, and to that, "de gustibus, non disputandum est".

A question about strut braces...I had read that there was much more flex with the rubber bushings than the actual strut towers so connecting the two towers does not do that much. Can you actually feel the difference or is it more "money" generated sensations? ;-)

I also read a good strut brace triangulates to the floor of the pan as well as connects to the top of the shocks...any comments?

I have the GT2 strut tower brace in my car and since it is one solid piece it should be better in theory. Now whether that translates into a better lap time, who knows.

I have to confess I saw it and just had to have it! The guilt is just awful......

Cheers, Maurice
