I just received a set of Fabspeed cat bypass pipes today from Joe. I will be installing them in the near future, Canadian weather permitting, along with my stock factory Motorsound cans.

Originally I had bought a set of stock cans, sent them to Robin for RSR'isizing.... and while they may be slightly more robust than the Motorsound cans..and I mean may... they just didn't do it for me. On my previous 87 Cab, I had installed a Borla exhaust...... which was not quite enough...... I then replaced the cat with a by-pass pipe, and presto, music to "MY" ears!!

It all boils down to a subjective assessment, where one man's noise is another's music..

BTW...This leaves me with a set of RSR cans that will be collecting dust in the garage. If anyone is interested in them, shoot me a PM.

ever get a ticket for the noise?????

..that is a concern I would have.. maybe the noise law enforcement varies greatly from one area to the next..

Around here you can get pulled over for missing a front plate, having tint too dark on front windows.. and having exhaust too loud...

I have Supercups and Cat bypass sounds awesome. I only drive car on street when it is perfect outside. Otherwise she's for the track. I have two problems thought

one: the tips look terrible

two: the valence is burnt around tips

I have the maxflows on my car -- LOVE THEM!!!! My mechanic just called me the other day to come in and hear a 993 that he had just installed the cat bypass pipes on (also with the maxflows). The sound was incredible. Loud? Sure. But not in that boy racer, no muffler sort of way. The sound was deep, powerful and really brought out the sound of the engine in way I had not heard before. I will be ordering mine next week. Btw, absolutlely no affiliation with Fabspeed, etc....

Default And the reason to do this is?

1. To annoy one's neighbors or to go deaf oneself?
2. To pollute the already dirty urban air even more?
3. To inflate one's ego ("look at me, hear my mighty car roar")?
4. To raise one's daily driver performance by a staggering 3-6 bhp?
5. All of the above?

Sorry, but it seems reasonable to ask, given that this board periodically flames the heck out of raspy "fart can" Hondas, "inconsiderate drivers" (i.e., cut us off, go too slow for our taste) and etc.

CMM, are you sure those are Supercups? The tips look an awful lot like B&B muffler tips. I had a set on my '95 car way back, and I agree, they ARE ugly.

Gee, I was the lucky recipient of a PM from The Good Doctor, and he even managed to insinuate that my behavior is child-like:

"Other than ad hominem attacks on me (which I don't care about)...can you offer any justification for disabling your cat and putting on loud mufflers, beyond ego? I'd be interested to see you offer a rationale stronger than making postings that consist of to e-equivalent of fart sounds and monkey faces, as a child might do."

reasons:
the car came that way
I like that the car came that way
it is loud, last track car was too quiet
I would have flames come out if I could oooooo look at me
is possibly faster .... good enough for me

Matt I think you are absolutely correct
I always wanted Supercups but now I seem to remember the prev. owner saying they were B&B Flow something
what did you replace them with?

Thanks

Alex (akolodesh),
I'd love to hear your car once you get the bypass pipes on – I’m over in Indy and will be coming through Dayton several times in the next few weeks (OVR DE and picking up wheels @ Forgeline). I don't want to turn my car into something that sounds obnoxious but I’d really like to improve the sound; I’ve listened to RSRs & Maxflows alone but they’re not quite the level of improvement I’m looking for.

BTW – did someone pee in mlincoln’s Wheaties or does he just have naturally well-honed communication skills?
