Default 5 tries later ride height is perfect

decided to put M030 on my 96 C4S, it had the original stock suspension. changed to the US M030 struts, springs and shocks, car sat higher than stock.

put stock springs back on M030 struts and shocks, sat lower but not as low as original.

put i inch drop collars on us M030 fronts, not low enough.

put euro M030 fronts on w/shock spacer on top and stock collars on bottom, looked good

put euro M030 rears on, to low

put euro turbo rears on, looks just right

moral to the story, some things arent as simple as i think

As I recall, you received a lot of sound advice from quite a few Rennlisters. I'd say, the moral of the story is you should have taken some of that advice to the bank.

ok...... rub it in!

yes, looking back pss9's would have been better since once on, you can adjust the ride height and quality to pretty much where you want it.
but i didnt want to go that way. felt was overkill for street driving. and didnt want to lower the car any more due to my slanted driveway, car hoist and 19 in wheels

i did learn a lot from this board (thanks again) and that allowed me to do the work myself and know what to change if things didnt turn out how i wanted them. its just that there were a few surprises i didnt expect.

like my old springs may have settled over time relative to the newer ones, or my originals may have been cut.

had all 12 springs ID'd, had lowering collars located and on hand, and knew the tricks for changing them thanks to forum postings.

please dont think i was complaining. i am very pleased w/the outcome.
had a good learning experience
have an improved looking 993
and better driving 993 too

More power to you Dr. K! I would have sold the car or thrown it into the Grand Canyon after trial two.... :-) But if you have the patience it is a great experience to try different options.

as many on this board know, changing the suspension is not that bad. i can do the fronts in 40min per side. rears in 45min.

others are most likely faster.

heck it takes me 3 hr to wash the car, so having new suspension in less time is a good thing

now if i could only fully align it @ home.........

Why was the euro M030 to low on the rear? Did you change the intermediate spacer for the top mount to match the spring length?

I’m in the middle of euro M030 installation and already installed the fronts with the strut spacer in the original position.

How about some pics and the measurement from the ground to the fender lip.

Now you really have me worried.

I could have told you you'd not like the US m030. Did you drive with it on? My 97 rode like a logging truck with those springs/shocks.

Glad you're handy with a wrench and found a combo you like!

US M030 was stiffer than stock, caused a few new rattles too

Default turbo rears

I would think the turbo rears would tip the balance towards oversteer, due to the higher spring rates. Have you noticed this, or driven the car hard since the install?

havent had the car out of the garage other than a roll back and forth a few times to settel the suspension to measure it.

also put turbo rear sway bar on and ROW M030 front on thinking it would help me slide the rear more.

i may not really be able to give a good report on this since i didnt have that much experience sliding it before the change and wont much have after either.

but in theory.... well i said the same about the springs and look where it took me.

yes, i do have 6 different sway bars to play w/now so there could be a problem.

it will be harder to judge their qualities than the spring ride height that is for sure.

could put my driving record in jepordy and wear out a set of tires. think i will stick w/the emperical solution on this one.
