Talk me out of selling 993 Cab : (
I'm debating selling my 95 993 Cab. Had for 2 yrs now, and considering selling. Feel like I only get to use it 4 months out of year, don't really get to enjoy it.
Sorry...just a bit confused.

You wanna sell it - then sell it. Just don't buy a damn pick-um=up, sport futility vehicle, or mommie-mobile minivan. Oh, yeah - buy a manual tranny so that you can't use a freakin' hand-held cell phone while driving.
Actually, driving it 4 months/yr? Not that outrageous. Anyway, if you bought it new, will prob. lose $15K on a sale or $20K on a trade-in if you decide to dump it.
When you do get into it,do you enjoy it? Look forward to driving it? If answer is "yes" - keep it. If answer is "no" - sell it to someone who might appreciate it more.

If there is a "i am thinking of selling it" emotionalism, then selling it is probably best.
If you are planning on selling it, make sure you think of the ramifications of not having a convertable around. If you have another convertable or are planning on replacing it with another one... then go for it!

Just keep this in mind...if you do sell it and at some point later decide to get another "week-end" car, what kind would you get? I can't imagine what you could get that NOT going to leave you thinking "damn...I sure wish I had that old Porsche back...I can't believe I sold it!".

I could only bring myself to sell a 993 Cab if it was to buy a 993 Coupe. If the 8 months of non-use is because it's a Cab, just put the top up and drive. If you don't want to beat up a Porsche in adverse weather and roads, I can understand, but I think you'll be wondering those other 4 months. What you lose on trade-in would buy you a beater vehicle for the winter.

PS: I understand the feeling, but there is life after convertibles. Among the open air vehicles I have owned are 2 motorcycyles, a '59 MGA, a Triumph Spitfire, a hang glider and most recently an '87 911 Cab that I sold in '97.

I have a 993 Cab and the only reason I would sell it is to by a 993 Coupe so I would have a better track car. I have added a roll bar to the Cab so I can drive it in DE events. I don't know why you don't drive your car all year. I have had mine out in the snow with no adverse affects. I find the sand in winter is no worse than the gravel that gets thrown up in the summer. But then I love to drive my car and wouldn't have it if I couldn't drive it most days.

Last year I sold my '87 cab for a 993 C4 coupe...with no reservations. Don't get me wrong, I love cabs, but only in cab country (which Boston isn't).
They are just not as much fun unless they are open. Of course there is nothing like a perfect cab day - which it is here today.
But the window for a coupe is much bigger.
The ultimate would be to have both...
