Much appreciated Rudy. Glad to see you're still enjoying the C4S - still one of the best cars I've owned!
Just mucking about, old sausage.... Have you installed the Ohlins yet??
Thanks Bert - hope all is well with you. My arena tt keeps me from kicking myself for not buying your slate tt years ago.

It's a 3.8 built by Ed Pink Racing Engines. Some highlights - lightweight Carillo rods & Mahle pistons, polished / ported heads, GT3rs crank, GT3 cup oiling system, GT3 intake, Kinsler ITB's, coil on plug ignition/AEM management
So, that's what you were daydreaming about when you drove my Spyder down that muddy dirt road.....

can you provide some feedback on the personality of this engine? Always curious the actual driving/real world difference on one of these big ITB builds, any comparisons you may have would be great

What's up Joe..? Thanks and It definitely is a thrill to drive. Hope all is good with you as well.
California, of course!
For me, the most noticeable differences (based on memory of my previous n/a 3.6 993/964's) are the more immediate nature of the throttle response and amazingly broad/linear torque delivery. This motor also feels much more powerful than a stock 3.6, yet very smooth and sophisticated in the effortless way it builds power from low down and just keeps pulling relentlessly. I should note that the gear ratios are stock, so slightly taller than what might be ideal for this motor. The original intent for the build was to retain the stock 964 intake / ignition systems - however due to the light weight internals these components were not able to 'keep up', resulting in reliability issues. This necessitated the switch to the GT3 intake, ITB's and AEM coil on plug ignition, which so far in my experience performs flawlessly and obviously adds some eye appeal when you lift the lid.
The 964 also has an RS LWFW/clutch along with a Porsche Motorsport LSD - toying with the idea of a re-gear in the future, though as all of the internals are new I'm not sure if it's worth it yet. Too much fun as is.
I love driving the 964 and 993tt back to back as they are such different cars but so similar at the same time. The 993 is obviously more brutal with its power delivery but the 964 is the more focused driving experience due to its chassis set up.

I went down the same path. A 964 C4 with 52K miles from the original owner fell into my lap last year and I have been sorting it out. It is now 100% mechanically sorted and moving next to a little bit of body work clean up to make it perfect.
My 3TT is RWD and prepped for light track duty so the 964 is serving as an around town putt putt extending my 911 driving season in the NE. Different intentions for the purchases.
I just spent the day in the 964 around backroads driving up to Northeast CT from SW CT. They are very different cars. The 964 is fun from 20-70MPH. 3TT is a beast from 30-130. They each serve their own purpose.
I am not 100% sure I will keep the 964 at the end of the day. I have always liked the 964 as the last gen with the traditional upright headlight design though but I am never going to leave my 3TT.
I drove my brothers 993C3 at length recently and the 993 is just a better car all around. 964 is more solidly built but 993 handles better and is more powerful. 993 is the one car choice for me if I was given the choice.
