Question 993 C2 help...

Hi,

I'm a few weeks into my search for a 993. I'm in the Chicago area and would prefer to find one from a private owner, but have come up empty. I just drove a '96 c2 32k $37k for sale at Luxury Motors in Downers Grave, but that place freaked me out... greasy hair and gold chains. Of course a PPI is in order. Would I take it to a dealer for that? the add is located here...

http://wwwheels.com/cfapps/brochure.cfm?id=1821807

Anyone have any experience at that dealer?

Any other suggestions on where all to look or anyone looking to sell. I'm looking for the car that has been loved and needs to be passed on to a new loving owner. Budgeting around 35k +/-

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Bernd,
Be careful with with those guys... I almost pulled the trigger on a white 96 coup a few weeks ago from Luxury motors, until I got the carfax.
There is something strange going on at this place. Cant put my finger on it but one car I looked at had 20K miles put on in one month, the car I wanted had been sold and re sold by the dealer 4 times with 15K miles on it in a span of 9 months???? The snow fell in Chicago and the wife ended up with a BMW. Check out the Exchange in Highland Park, they have a nice selection also www.worldwidewheels.com. Back to luxury motors, talk to Dave (the least shady of the bunch) I had a PPI lined up at Midwest Eurosports, Luxury did not have a problem with me taking the car there for a inspection. Eurosport will be able to give you a good PPI on any car you end up with. They are in Bensenville, near O Hare. Feel free to shoot me a e mail if you have anyother questions

Was it a white 911 coupe with a spoiler and heavily tinted windows? If so, it was blocking the red 911 i went to test drive... the white 911 had been 'sold'. When they went to start it, it was dead... so they jumped it to get it out of the way. A bit unnerving to say the least.

any reason not to take it to a dealership for the PPI? Napelton Porsche is right down the road on Ogdon...

Thanks for the response.

Napelton is a pretty good dealer but too close for comfort if you know what I mean... A independent would be my first choice. The good ones are not in that area (Eurosport,Fisher,Perfect Power) Yeah, the white coupe was the one I was looking at for the wife (Tip) Make sure you "read" the carfax to make sure nothing seems funny. These guys buy cars from auction, while there is nothing wrong with that, everyone I looked at just seemed a little off.

The other funny thing about the red 993 that I looked at was that it had a rennlist sticker on the side rear window... I suppose that talking to the previous owner would be a good thing. wonder if they post here

Thanks for the comments... going away for the new year, if its still there next week I'll schedule a ppi. worst case there's allways another car somewhere.

bernd,

Stay away from Red it is a bad color per the dealers I spoke with. Also it sounds too good to be true with that mileage. I paid #8 k for 45k miles in oregon and looked all over teh country for a 95. Get teh records or be weary...

good luck this is a great car. E ticket every time you take it out of teh parking lot!!!

That Red 993 is mine! It should have the 911 Aluminium door sills, and aluminium door handles. I bought it at Carlsen in Palo Alto Ca, when it had about 20K. email me if you want to talk. It was serviced at Napleton in Westmont.

I do miss that car, the C4S is nice but it has a different feel to it. I guess I just have to get used to it.

PS: Talk to Gino over at Luxury, I traded in that 993 C2 for an Arena Red C4S.

Hey there Bernd, I think an apology is in order. Just where do you get off discriminating against greasy-haired gold chain wearing (GHGC) people? Huh? Do we offend you? Some of us are very nice people, we just like to make sure that every hair is exactly where it's supposed to be, and you got to admit, these chains really do set off the new caps I just got on my teeth. Besides, how are the ladies going to notice my big hairy chest if not for the chains tangled therein?

I think you need to be just a little bit more tolerant of people not like yourself, that's what I think.

Now, you apologize RIGHT NOW or we send over someone who break your arm, yes?

Regards,

Guido

Yep, door sills and handles were aluminum... US flag sticker (no deutschland flag?).

I'm almost positive they told me it was a one owner car...
