Default Just bought my 1st Porsche a 993 GT2

Hi. I just bought my first Porsche, a 1996 very low mileage 993 GT2. Now I need to find a way to send it to Boston. Since only about 50 were made for the street, none were US legal. Maybe possible to bring it in under the "show/display" ruling and be limited to 2,500 miles per year. I would still have to get EPA approval. Anyone have any advice?

BTW, this is absolutely a raw and wild car. I will post details and pictures soon.
Thanks.

Don't you think you should've bought a more interesting model for your first Porsche?

Congratulations! I'm afraid I don't have any import info - I hope you can get it registered...

bkcsr - look forward to the pics (I hope to paint one of my RC GT2 bodies in white - so as many pics as you can put up here - I'll take 'em!!).

If nobody objects, how about a couple of pics of the Hartge MCS??

Good for you mate.

I watched as you searched at flat-6. I suggested some options.

Did you get the one in Geneva?

For suggestions about getting it home, send me an email. I might be able to assist. I'll explain in an email.

What slipper slope? He's waaay down in hell now with that car.

I've only seen it once in person in London. The riveted flared fenders and wing make it such a bad-*** car. Good luck on bringing it in. I know that the McLaren F1 and 959 have been made road-legal without the show/display limitations but contrast that with Autodelta in NJ which is now under investigation for forging legibility of the Alfas they brought it.

Hi Rezal. The 959 was made road legal at a cost of 35,000 to 50,000 each.
Bill Gates was one of the first importers and his car was stuck in port for more than 3 years. I don't think I will drive mine more than 2,000 miles a year so the show/display route is fine with me. My concern is the EPA approval. Since this car is OBD II I'm assuming that the engine can be emission compliant without too much cost. Cheers

Damn, that's one helluva first Porsche. Will your next one be a 917-30?

Welcome to the board.

bkcsr,

My first Porsche is a RUF BTR, but I think you got me beat.

For importing German spec. cars, try John Tatos of Elite Auto Imports.
(jtatos@hotmail.com , 541-210-0806). John specializes in importing Porsches, MB and BMWs, federalizing them and then reselling them. He helped import my RUF from Germany. He takes care of transport, custom clearance, federalization, DOT paperwork etc. He has an import license that allows him to take cars that DOES NOT yet meet DOT requirements out of port. That to me is the single most important reason why I used his services. No affiliations, just a very satisfied customer. If you try him, you can say Pong Ng referred you.

I assumed your GT3 is in Germany, and not in Manila. He ships his Porsches from Bremmerhaven, Germany, to Port Hueneme in CA. If you need a driving mate to pick it up, come to SF, we'll go down in my RUF and caracvan back together. How's that for Rennlister service?

CP (Chun Pong Ng)

Can't wait to see pics of your car. Does it look like this?

That's sure to get a bit of attention at the local supermarket and the mall!

Happy for you,

Steve

Congrats-talk about jumping into Porsche ownership with a flair. After it's in the country with all the legalities worked out you'll have to bring it to one of our NE Rennlist gatherings. Welcome to the club!!!!
