Default '95 Factory Stereo wiring

I finally pulled the aftermarket head unit from my '95 C2 with the Hifi stereo option. Here are photos of connections that were attached. Does anyone know if this is the factory connection? Am I missing anything?

Thanks

Robb

What you are looking at is the wiring from the early 95s that had the CR1 radio. It was changed to the mini ISO connection later that year. Unfortunately, that Mini ISO is not only what most modern stereos expect, but also what all the adapters are made for that are widely advertised as fitting any 993 model with Hi-Fi.

There are a few options for you now, depending on whether you want to retain the factory amp or not. Have you given that some thought yet? I suppose you are looking to simply plug and play a new head unit, in which case you can buy an adapter for that (hard to find and expensive (the only one I know of is from BergvillFX) or reroute an adapter cable to the amp (Suncoast Porsche offers that one, also expensive).

Yes, this is the original CR-1/CR-2 wiring.

Crutchfield gave me a free adapter when I bought a head unit from them, otherwise just cut it and splice the wires to your harnesses

I own a 04/1995 build date C2 and also have an aftermarket radio which I would like to change. Can someone upload a picture of the mini ISO connector(s) so I see what it looks like?

Thanks!

That red wire "T splice" looks like it could use some electrical tape.

Dave - You are absolutely right. I added some right after taking this photo.

Thanks for calling it out.

Thanks for the information, this is very helpful. I'm glad I have the original wiring, I don't mind getting an adapter.
