Just installed LWF and G64/21 in my 97 C4S last week. In addition I had monoballs put in all 4 corners. Had PSS-9 in car for over 6 months, the monoballs are a must. The car seems to be cut from a soild billet now.
My question is the noise from the transmission input shaft when car is in neutral. It's real loud, especially when the gearbox is warmed up. No one has ever commented on this noise when doing the LWF conversion. Sounds like a cement mixer!. Is this normal? Is there a solution to minimise the noise?

I had the LWF installed in my '97 twin turbo and the noise when launching from a dead start bothered me enough to go back to the stock flywheel. The car drove better with the LWF, but personally, I prefer the quieter sound of the OEM flywheel over the performance advantage of the LWF. I never noticed any sound at idle - only once I began to engage the clutch and the parts began to hook up. I was very tuned into the LWF clutch noise and I think I would have noticed a sound at idle, especially if it sounded like a cement mixer. In short, I did not notice anything like what you describe with my LWF setup.

The LWF "rattle" as we call it, is heard at idle with the clutch pedal un-pressed. Once you depress the clutch pedal, it goes away. The noise reappears as you let the clutch out but will eventually blend-in with the engine noise. I am so used to it now that I don't even notice it anymore.

I do not recall any rattle at idle - only during launch. But, since you are usually right, I will take your word for it. I will add, however, that if the rattle was there (during idle), it had to be very slight for me not to notice it.

GJ: I also have a LWF and have experienced the noise you described. For me, not a big deal - still worth the upgrade. Like you said, more pronounced once the tranny's warmed up - can really hear it after a track session.

Only way to remedy it is to replace stock flywheel.

I've got the LWF also, and agree that there is a certain "cement-mixer" quality to the sound at idle. It is very slight, and not very loud, unless you've got the windows down. Idling inside the garage seems to make it more apparent. It wasn't too bad at all, and sort of reminds me of a Ducati's flat-slide carburetor/dry clutch basket jingle. If you've got the right perspective, a not wholly unpleasant noise. Since then, I've had a roll cage welded in, rear seats removed and all the (heavy) sound insulation removed. The cement-mixer sound is now much more prevalent. I'd guess that it's at least 3 times louder than before. Again, it's a matter of perspective.

Yes, I am happy with it. I've had it on for six months,and have no regrets. Hard to tell you if it's worth it for you or not -really depends on your outlook. My car is my daily driver, as well as my track machine . My finicky fiance has never noticed it, and it doesn't bother me either. Only time the noise becomes really pronounced is after a track session, but who cares BTY, car's a lot more fun to drive

The LWF produces two different sounds. One is the rattle at idle, described above. The other is a growl as the car accelerates through about 2500 RPM. I hear it in first and when I’m in a corner that’s too fast to downshift to first, so I’m stuck in second at 2500 or so.

Funny, but I hear no rattle at idle. I only hear the growl if I accelerate slowly from low revs in 2nd, not if I accelerate quickly.

I bought my car with a lightweight flywheel, so I don't have a baseline.
I am not aware of any cement mixer noises. It seems smooth and sweet to me.
