Are TT prices increasing?
It seems to me that asking prices for TTs has increased over the past 6 months. I don't recall seeing too many $90+K turbos earlier this year, now there are lots of them on AutoTrader. I'm not in the market for one, so maybe I haven't been paying attention.

The real question is where are they trading?
The range seems very wide as dealers/brokers are asking high 80s-90, yet have heard of sales in the low 70s. But, i have seen few private people offering TTs for sale. Im willing to bet dealers and especially brokers are not offering more to buy a TT, but are trying to support the market and use the spring seasonality. Yet, it seems these TTs arent flying away and sit for a while. Therefore, Im dont think this is sustainable (other than for a mint 97TT with very low miles) as TTs are generally more available and new 996TTs are available to those who just want a p-car turbo. IMHO.
Do you guys argee with this? -- I care as Im thinking about upgrading for a TT.

I sure hope the prices are going up as I own a 1997 with 7000 miles. With all the problems I have been reading about with the new 996TT as far as noisy valve trains and blown engines it would not suprise me to see the 993 prices overtake the 996 prices.I don't think I have ever read anything about 993 engines blowing up.Maybe people are coming to their senses. As you can tell I am a little bit biased. What do you guys think? Rob, if you are loking to upgrade, this may help:
Last week a co-worker was shown a $67,000 bid for his '96 993 TT from a wholesaler, and Par-Cars in Westchester is offering a similar car at $74,900 (I think). So that looks like a market if I ever saw one.

Thanks evan. Is your friend's TT in silver? - Im kind of partial to silver - if so send me an email - I would care.
As said above, I just dont know where the TT will really trade ($90k is a lot of $$ for a 6-7yrs old- despite however enthusiastic we all are about 993s), so I dont believe people are prying their wallets open.
More importantly, Im convinced these brokers are making a REALLY WIDE market (i havent tried to sell one, so i really dont know), plus they are generally quite arrogant (from my experience) about their lack of price flex.
Im happy to pay a fair price, but there is no way I'd want to "lift the offer" to a predatory broker.
Advice, please.

I just bought a 96 tt blk/blk w/23K miles for $72,000. (smiles from ear to ear) Seems the market is about $75,000 for these cars. If one has really low mileage, then it should go for about $80k. I think 993 tt's will keep their value better than 996 tt's over time. Seems that most people prefer 993's to 996's anyway. I certainly do.

since we are in the topic for resale value of turbos, my brother bought a '94 3.6 turbo for 60K with 30,000. I think he got a decent deal on it, what do you guys think?

In my experience, the answer would have to be no. I could have bought a flawless black/black '94 3.6 with 20k miles for less than $50K in January from a private party. I went for the '97 C2S with 12k miles instead.....
