Default Re gear and track gain vs orig

Hi

i have a 993 row long gearbox/ the last one

3 is long as a day on track

i start to look for a full re gear
it s expensive for sure

what kind of gain i can expect on a fast track
i mean not a turn every 150 meters

do you have some times before and after the re gear

the lfw is also something i will do

thanks for your feedback and tesults

Well it varies from track to track. Might even lose a little top end depending on your gear choice. But it certainly keeps you in the power band better.

If you can find a G50/21 gearbox in Europe it will be the ticket. Fantastic gearing ratio's and the way it was intended to be before the tree huggers in Switzerland complaint about noise etc and Porsche changed it for all 993's post 95 for Europe and all 993's for NA.
I have one in my track car and its a one way street really. Best mod ever. Add a short shift kit, LWF , Porsche Motorosports differential and a good suspension, you will drive a different car.

Getting ready to drop the trans for a new clutch and flywheel. Wish I had the extra $10K to regear but cant pull the trigger.

I m not an expert

regarding the values
short gearbox is better than the long one with upgraded diff (4.0)
or 4.0 is a good choice ?

dumb question - but is it possible to just do a final drive upgrade? I know it's a popular move, did it in my track e46 M3 and S2000 in the past with positive results.

Mine G64 Box is re-geared to GT specs. Transformed the car like 180! Worth every penny but not for the faint at heart! My mechanic worked with G-Box in CO. Costly but well worth it. Always in the power when shifting gears starts at around 3,200 RPM. My car spends 95% of its time on backroad twisties. Car is a blast to drive vs before. OEM Gears were wayyyyyy too long!

Noise and emissions. What a shame really. I'm lucky I got mine when I did back almost 16 years ago...

Have never tried a 993 with a G5020 but I am very pleased with my G5021.

The manual 911 gearboxes after the G5020 are just as bad so buying a manual 996, 997 or 991 won't help!

For purposes of dreaming, would you mind providing (or pointing me to a source of) the GT gear specs?

Edit: Do you mean 996 GT3 gearing? If so, I have briefly driven a 993 with this gearing and it does feel much more aggressive and lively.
