Question Where do you buy your parts for modifications?

I am planning a few after-market modfications - some big some small - such as adding Big Reds, Litronic lights, 18" wheels, carbon sills, Motor Sound (fortunately the PO did a Euro Sport Suspension Mod which lowered the car nicely) and as everyone seems to predict the mods won't stop there.

The local Porsche dealer asked me today if I was going to provide them with the parts for these projects. To which I thought in reply "you bet if saves a few bucks and frees up the capital for more projects!"

What has been your experience buying parts on-line or through the local private Porsche service shops? I've looked at Pelican and Carnewal. Where else do you recommend?

And by the way - thanks to all for the priceless advice you provided to me in the hunting and searching stage.

I highly recommend Carnewal. I have previously ordered a full MO30 kit from Gert, not only were the parts shipped promptly, but when I had queries as to the install, Gert called me long distance to assist in the installation. You cannot get any better than that.

I hear the same experience from many friends who have also ordered from Carnewal.

I've had good experience with Gert at Carnewal - prompt delivery, very responsive to questions, and competive prices. I would order from him again and he is a Rennlist sponsor. I have also had good experience with Michael and his crew at By Design for hard to get stuff (they got me my carbon fiber seats and 11" Gemballas when they first came to market).

Let me know if you are able to find carbon fiber sills at a good price...I've given up trying to find them. Someone was previously trying to put a group buy together but had difficulty in finding a good fabricator (was it DFJ?).

I've had GREAT experiences with Carnewal, Pelican Parts, and Schatz Motorsports. Stay away from Road & Race. I don't care if they are a Rennlist sponsor. Their prices are high for the quality (especially for their used parts), and they actually have people who have the nerve to get mad at you if they find out you're checking for parts elsewhere. Others may have different opinions.....just my experience.....

Some times you get lucky on ebay and on the pca.org classifieds and the local PCA chapter's monthly magazine.

Imagine Auto is a Rennlist sponsor, and they are good guys, too ...

I would reccommend Hershal at Cargraphic USA.

Great guy to deal with and amazing pricing. On top of it all he's located in the US so you don't have to pay duties and brokerage when getting parts out of the country.
