Question SF Bay Area - recommendations for service

I'm a new owner (and still giddy :eek of an Artic Silver '97 C2S. I was hoping someone here would be kind enough to recommend a qualified and trustworthy shop for basic service such as oil changes, 15k mile service, etc. I live near Redwood Ciy.

Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,

There are 2 great shops in the area:

Ken's Sportech in Cambell, CA (near Los Gatos) 408.337.8055

Rick Botempi's (sp?) High Performance House, In Redwood City. Check Golden Gate PCA website for address.

I've been to both shops, and they both do great work at reasonable prices.

Hope that helps!

Ron-

Congratulations on a great purchase!

In addition to the two shops already mentioned (have not used them personally, but have heard good things about them both), I recommend DM Motors in downtown Palo Alto. (650 329-9016) They do good quality work at reasonable prices.

See you on the road!

CT on McGlincey in Campbell (Don Wise). I took my prior '87 911 Cab there. Good work, reasonable price. I'm due for a 60K soon. For proximity/convenience, I'll be going to Reitmeir's Werkstatt First St Los Altos. This based on recommendation by another board member and recent belt replacement which gave me a chance to observe their shop. Someone else recommended a shop in Palo Alto, but you should check the archives because I forget the name.

I've used DM in Palo Alto for my 15K service. They were ok, I didn't think that they did a stellar job, but were competent.

Recently, I went to Modderman Porsche in Mountain View. I really liked them a lot and think that I will go back. DM was definately a high volume shop and it seemed like there was more attention to detail at Modderman. Modderman is more expensive though.

I guess you get what you pay for. I've heard good things about Heyer Motorsports in Mountain View also, and S-Car-Go in Marin. Although I think that scargo does race setups and not general maintaince.

Good luck..

Jeff

Hi Ron - I live on the Peninsula and have owned 2 911s (an 87 and a recently acquired 993 C4 Cab - also in Polar Silver). I have used Peninsula German Car in San Mateo - good prices and service for basic maintenance - and CT Automotive in Campbell - good place for performance upgrade work.

I'd go with Don at CT Automotive in Campbell as well. Competent mechanics, great customer service, honest. Prices have gone up lately, but only because I started using them 4 911's ago.

You probably want the best for you new asset, don't you? :-)

I've used Heyer Performance (in Mountain View) for a couple of services (the only ones I've had) and have been really happy with them. Excellent service and very reasonable prices.
