Default Relocated my clutch bleeder port to the engine bay

Dear Rennlisters:
I finally got around to installing the remote clutch bleeder port on my car.
Seemed like an easy and practical modification that eliminates the need for a lift or jack-stands and a blind contortion to get to the original bleeder location.
My port is now located along the outboard side of the heater blower in the engine compartment.
I purchased the parts some time ago:

The idea to do the relocation was based on this posting:
993 Remote Bleeder Setup
I'm getting lazy in my old age as I had my local servicing garage Delta V in Richmond, VA install it as part of having the clutch bled.
Delta V Motorsports
My experience over the last three years with Delta V has been good. They are competent and honest, not trying to upsell unnecessary product or service or padding hours or parts. Not to say they are inexpensive but to say they meet expectations. This is something I have not been able to reliably get when having my 993 serviced elsewhere.

My only reservation with the relocation is will the remote line remain tightly attached to the hydraulic brake cylinder with vibration and movement over time.
I retained the original bleeder screw and will keep it in the car just in case I need to remove the relocated set-up sometime in the future.
The key to using it. and not introducing air in the system. is to use a pressure brake bleeder to put the brake reservoir under pressure before cracking open the relocated bleeder screw.

Andy,
I’ve had zero issues with my setup. In addition to snugging the slave adaptor & AN line fitting as tight as I felt comfortable, I also routed the stainless line through an existing chassis hose/cable tie (shown in my writeup). With the left rear wheel off, it’s easy to shine a light at the slave to make sure everything is still in order.

But since the 90-degree fitting sends the hose towards the left rear wheel, there’s no chance of the adaptor setup coming loose...

Pic of your setup?

Are you racing your cars, what's the interval of your bleeds?

Paddy,
Thanks for asking...
Was, never.
Now will be every two to three years with each brake bleed

I filed a slot in the L bracket that holds the bleeder end to capture the nut behind so it doesn't rotate when turning the bleeder screw.

I did the same thing and the parts look very similar...another Rennlister asked me about the parts here they are:

3AN to M6 adapter-
https://www.ebay.com/itm/AN-3-3AN-to...72.m2749.l2649

36" 3AN Hose- Russell 655100

3AN Speed bleeder/bracket- Russel 641370

Use some teflon tape to screw in the m6/AN3 adapter into the slave cylinder and wrist tighten it.

I flush the brake & clutch circuits annually.
As for racing, the closest I get is sitting in the car while it’s on stands and making flat-6 sounds while vigorously sawing the wheel left & right.

Sooooo much better than monkeying around with the bleeder in its stock location.

Correct. That little stainless adaptor can only take so much twist before shearing.

Now that the fluid has been refreshed I'll be waiting with bated breath a couple of years now before I actually use the thing!

I recently did this mod, too, using a Sleepers Speed shop heater bypass delete plate to mount the bleeder.

Fuzzy picture, but did the same a year ago. Very convenient mod if you race/heavily track your car.

Slightly different approach using metric fittings.

That is a sharp looking bracket, Did you make that yourself?

I didn’t think Teflon tape was needed on a compression fitting, am I wrong?

You are correct. I think he applied the tape to the just the threaded part, though I dont see why he would do that. Perhaps to prevent galling or corrosion bonding?
