The motor sports gauge is mainly used out of necessity, since (1) the Porsche tools are prohibitively expensive (and unavailable?) and (2) Porsche gauges won't fit on aftermarket toe arms that so many folks use.

Whether or not the motorsports gauge (like the $350 Autometrics) works "correctly" seems to be unknown. I've never seen anyone show how it correlates to the Porsche tools. What are the "most correct" settings? Is it even possible to use the Autometrics gauge to dial in "1.5 scale units" per the Porsche gauges?

As another complicating factor, I believe kinematic toe is not considered meaningful for track cars with full monoballs (since that removes the radial flexibility in the a-arm bushing, yes the same a-arm the Porsche gauge attaches to).
