Hey Guys,
Phil From Fabspeed here.

There are some great questions about 993 X-pipe. Yes, our x-pipe is made right here in Southeastern PA. We have been making performance exhausts for the 993 since the car first came out and making continual improvements to our system year after year. We at Fabspeed pride ourselves on the quality and longevity of our products. All Fabspeed performance products are backed by the Fabspeed Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Being in business for 25 years we have been able to change our system to make them better and better. We have included our cast x-pipe in the early 2000s. We also have included a conversion kit, so that if you want to go from Cat bypass to Catted you have that ability. Along with performance gains of 16(whp) and 19(ft-lbs), it also looks fantastic on these beautiful cars.

To address the claims of we “farm out our work” or “run the other way when the question arises” I’d like to take a moment to clear up any misconceptions. Fabspeed has a full design, manufacturing and testing facility just outside of Philadelphia PA. We have shop tours available on youtube and if you watch them, you’ll see the precision equipment we have in-house and the faces of some of the best-skilled people in the industry. No company can do everything in-house and all companies rely on sourcing specialized components. Fabspeed is no different. To give you two examples, we proudly import the very best catalytic converters in the world from a company in Germany and we assemble our cat systems with those converters right here, in house. We invest in the best helical valves from a partner in the UK because we found that other, cheaper versions do not perform well. Those valves are quality controlled and fitted to our Fabspeed system right here in the US. In the end, Fabspeed likely uses more raw material, and US suppliers and people than any of our competitors when we make the products.

I got a call last year from John at Soul Performance, stating that they love my 993 Sport Mufflers and wanted to know if I would be interested in a collaboration with them in building sport cats for the 993 platform.
I have installed some Soul Performance GT3 exhaust bits at my shop and was impressed with their quality and fitment, so I was looking forward to working with them.
When speaking with the Soul Performance crew, John Gaydos, Mike Spock, and John Brandenburger, I got a feeling that this would be a very good fit. Their philosophy and commitment to their products and customer care is very similar to my own.
When I designed my own sport cats a few years ago, I kept both exhaust banks separate. I loved it and it was very aggressive.
Soul was very interested in building an x-pipe, which I am ok with, as long as the build quality is top notch. The x-pipe will actually be a little less aggressive than my previous sport cats, which will allow the use of the full range of my mufflers, be it Stage I, Stage II, or Stage III.
The Soul Performance 993 Sport Cats will utilize 2 1/2" piping so they will have incredible flow.
I have not received my test set yet, but am looking forward to putting them thru the paces on my 993.

Stay tuned!

I have the Fabspeed X-Pipe, Cats, and Mufflers on both 993's and can attest to both quality and excellent customer service/support.

I was unaware of SOUL, but look forward to learning more. Having options for our cars is a good thing for all.

Cheers

Interested to hear more on this - keeping banks separate vs using an x-pipe. Is it mostly a different in sound or does it affect performance too? Has anyone done testing with both setups back to back?

Darin, do you have your sport cats on your car currently that you’ll be replacing or OEM?

Thanks for the kind words Darin, you've always been an A player with the 993 community. This is going to a fun one haha

Year of car?
Was the car stock, or did it have other performance goodies?

We need this to understand the baseline pull.

Read more than the first few posts... specifically, post #34 from Joe Fabiani. The originator of that post and one other member on that thread had it out for Fabspeed, which he describes in detail.
