Default Bilstein Update on PSS9s

I know that a lot of you are waiting for PSS9s. Well some are coming in next week, but only 30 sets for the entire US. Bilstein estimates that they will only get an additional 70 units in after this shipment through June or July. Also, expect HEAVY price increases. This next shipment may not have another price increase (as of yet undetermined) but the next shipment will be increasing retail to $3695. I got this from Bilstein directly today. Also the units that may come in without a price increase may still increase the street price due to the shortage of product availability (that darn supply and demand thing. And I guess this would then be an elastic curve.. I digress) from various suppliers.

PLEASE be careful when preordering these from vendors. And make sure that if you do pre-order will you be getting that price even if there is a price increase... You may be standing in line, and never get to the window.

Also, the other products in the Bilstein line will also be increasing soon like HDs. Some of you may seriously want to consider alternatives like the JIC Cross products. Especially at the new PSS9 prices.

If I hear anything else, I will be sure to let you know...

Are the retail distributors jacking the prices or is Bilstein ? Sounds pretty lame if you ask me...Somebody got a used set on eBay today for a great deal.

When I bought mine a while ago, the vendor I bought it from said that Bilstein was pushing him to raise prices. YMMV.

Yeah, that set on Ebay went to one of my local buddies with a TT down here in Dallas. I spotted them a couple of days ago & gave him the heads up. I think he did all right as long as they are in good shape.

Bob,

I'm sure happy I got mine last Christmas. Thanks for all your help then.

Ouch. That price makes triple adjustable JRZs look like a good deal.

Very good advice on the preorders Bob.

Also best of luck on going full time with RennTT.

JW - they are most likely fine and for another few bills one could pickup:

Seems like a good deal since Bilstein is playing games...Supply and demand at it's finest. Only makes me want to spend my money elsewhere.

Geeze....maybe I should take my almost-new PSS-9's off and sell them at a significant profit!

Cheers,

Mike

Maybe, but I think Tech-Law would disagree.

Bob - I had a feeling this was going to happen. Glad you installed mine when they were reasonable.

Good luck with RennTT. You are the best.

Bilstein is building a great case for Moton Club Sports.

FWIW,.....Price increases are due to the weakness of the US dollar against foreign currencies. No importer, wholesaler, or retailer can absorb these increases like we all have done in the past.

Don't blame Bilstein or anyone else for that matter, there is no "goat" in this issue.

Porsche A.G. has raised prices each and every month since September and I received a new one today. Again, its a currency issue.

Moton is doing the same adjustment on March 1st.

P.S.,..I do have one PSS-9 kit left.

Steve,

You are correct that the increase in price is due to the weakness of the dollar as far as Bilstein is concerned. I see, and I am sure you see it too, that suppliers are raising prices just because they have less of them to sell.
