993 Turbo factory prototype
Wow, talk about a cool piece of history. I'm actually really surprised that this is being auctioned off at all... I'd figure the factory might want to hang on to it. Check out all the details here.

I would rather have a '97 where all the bugs are worked out and the guys in R&D didn't potentially beat the car to death before sending it off to a subsequent owner. I wonder if the writer is getting a commission on its sale? The condition described as "Cherry", a vulgar reference to being of virgin pedigree, a bit of a stretch for an engineering test mule.

Worth checking the provenance before making a bid, not that I'm likely. RS CS front splitter? I would have expected more 964 internals for a prototype, but then 993 were already in production.

Johnny, thanks for taking the time to respond; nice to have you interact with the members. I agree that, if authentic, this is a special and historic car that simply can't be compared to any ordinary 993 turbo.

The Carrera GT prototype previously owned by Seinfeld is on show at the Petersen Museum together with the Panamera prototype sporting 996 headlights. Prototypes are neat in their significance in history as a museum piece only..

For sure man! I love it! It would probably be a blast for a proper gearhead to take a look at this car, as there are probably little Easter egg type things all over it, that you'd need a truly technical eye to see.
