I'm considering dropping GEICO as my insurance company because they don't offer "Agreed/Stated Value" insurance.

What are some good companies for stated value?

I've already applied to Leland west and I'm waiting for a response. It's weird though, they require you to blong to PCA! What's up with that?

Boris,

Will USAA cover DE events?

Geico gives radar guns to various law enforcement agencies. I choose not to deal with companies who exhibit unethical business practices.

USAA is available to military officers (current or retired) as well as members of immediate family. I have USAA and am generally happy with their service. They will not cover DE events. I pay $2,000 a year for my car. I'm 34 with a clean record. But then again, I live in New Jersey.

Sachin,

Whichever you end up going with, please make certain that you are being quoted "Agreed Value" coverage only, which specifically states the amount that you will be paid for your car in the event of a total loss. This is the valuation used in the Leland West program.

"Stated Value" or "Declared Value" policies are essentially worthless, IMO. Lots of archive posts here on those topics.

Good luck,
Tim

Suggest calling local insurance agency and have them shop around for you. Leyland has too many restrictions for me. BTW, think USAA now also insures all enlisted and retired Military vets.

I believe Chubb will give you agreed value but they're quite expensive.

My understanding is USAA used to cover DE's (untimed non-competitive events that are solely for drivers education). i've heard that they are rewriting their policies - but i have not received a rewritten policy.

yes you must be retired from or active armed services or immediate family.
I think i pay about $1400-$1500 for full insurance on my 993.

Cheers,
Boris

Try usaa.com for contact info. I've always been quite happy with them, until they rewrote the DE policy. I haven't figured out whether to change companies or try to find track insurance.

Chubb & Progressive both offer agreed value. They both have many pricing tiers and can be very competitive.

IME Leland West is absurdly restrictive. I don't want to be told, for example, that I can never drive my car to work--especially since I work in an area where the most serious untoward event is likely to be too much vanilla in your latte.

I have had State Farm for 20 years and they have provided outstanding service, but do not offer agreed value insurance for daily use vehicles. I would love to get agreed value coverage on my 993 as well as my vintage VW bus.

There are some good leads in this thread, but if somebody has a specific agent, phone number, etc. I would greatly appreciate it if you would please post it here or PM me.
