Great shots......my C2 Cab uses a separate set of 18 inch snow tires and rims.........installed the steering rack brace for the 18s, as the summer rims are 17s...........car is great in the snow as was my 2003 C4S that used the same snow rims/tires.......I place a bag of 50 pounds of salt in the front trunk also for better front traction..........

In my eyes, Mike is a hero for using his sports car as it was originally intended - as a car.
Too much talk about $2000 tequipment shift ***** and the next "go fast mods for cars that see the light of day twice a year.

Thanks for the sentiment though.

This post has been inspiring. Your choice of words, "companion", is telling .
Most have seen Porsche's cute, colorful photos of a new 911 in the snow, newer skis attached, pretty people around, presumably in the Alps, headed to a trendy resort.
Michael has a simple roof rack, hockey paraphernalia piled on top, heaps of Chicago snow, and its snowy streets as backdrops.
These pictures might serve Porsche/VW advertising even better, demonstrating in real time, real place what these cars can do, were designed to do, and should do..
Thanks.

It is interesting that my biggest obstacle this winter has not been the roads. It has been my alley. If I can keep it clear then all is good. Today it is clear!

Taking parts off is relatively easy. I have had no ill-effects going on three years with the new set up.
It really changes the feel of the car. But you need to be careful with snap oversteer. The car really wants to rotate from the rear now. The steering wheel feel changes, too. It is a lot lighter and more fidgety. I got a good alignment after I did it and that is important.
The weight of my car went down too but I also gutted the interior, etc. So I am not sure how it would affect your car. I am ar around 2,900 lbs.
I also got a shop to put on the RS wheel carriers because I am at about an RS ride height. That changed the handling too. I just experiment with it.
If you don't drive the car all the time, I would suggest not doing it. I spent lots of time mucking around with it. You can however reverse it but then it is a lot of work. That's why I recommend to just leaving it as is.
