Default 2019: the I don't want, non-wish list...

Welcome to 2019, brethren! So musing on this new year, a beautiful morning with my cup o joe, I realized there are so many things I don't want to do with my beloved 993:

1. Don't want faster. It is what it is, a glorious time machine to a previous era.
2. Don't want it lower or stiffer. Got PSS9s maybe 75k miles ago (who can remember, really?) and it' still setup great and feels like a big gocart while ultimately tourable, not to mention my DD
3. Don't want it to look better. Paint is shiny but riddled with DD marks, wheel-arch film darkened and a bit mucky, orig Cup 2 wheels, but she still turns heads, esp mine. It's amazing as is, perfect in its imperfection.
4. Don't want to "preserve" it or be too fussy or careful with it. Yes, our 993's values have soared so that genuinely gives this working stiff pause at times, but it's still my DD appliance that I love, so will drive it to enjoy it while I can
5. Don't want any upgrade. Save getting the sunroof to work and eventually addressing a cam-chain housing leak (that I've been putting off for 5+ years, yikes!), there is nothing that I'd consider an upgrade.
6. Don't want to "upgrade" to any other Porsches. I'm uber-blessed to have this and my Trackmeister SC ...more than this mere mortal deserves

There I am. So what about you good folks? Does anyone have a resolution to not have a resolution? Chime on folks, let's hear what you got "planned" for our beloved beasts

1. Don't want to have to rebuild by steering rack, but the leak says otherwise.

LOL guys! I was simply thinking along the lines of I don't want "more" for the 993 and simply want to drive it and enjoy ownership. But I get the sentiment, even though I don't have a rear wiper
Along those lines, however, I don't want the bumperettes, but I'm not going to do anything to get rid of them ...in the spirit of the original post

Not wanting more is a key to happiness.

I have to say this is pretty spot-on, right down to the sunroof and leaking cam-chain covers....

I don’t want a collectible. BUT, I do want to use it with the comfort and utility of sport seats, classic radio, upgraded suspension, 3-spoke SW, center console, RSD, one-touch windows, solenoid hood release, LED lighting, third brake light, and more.

I don’t want originality for its sake BUT do want it to be clearly well-maintained and what I think it should have been visually before it became mine, which means 18” wheels, bumperettes delete or body color, rear wiper delete, turbo-S ducts, colored matched seat belts-gauges-calipers, aluminum/leather interior trim, and more.

In short, as much as possible, uniquely mine, but always with p-car-ish mods. What Porsche could have or did offer 20 years ago to someone who could afford to check any option box desired. After years of mods, I don’t want anything other than time to use and drive. That’s the tough one!

And I don’t want a newer model.

I don't want to modify my stock 95C2. I love pretending its 1995 and just got the car and I'm 20 years younger when driving it!

I am torn (and there is nobody to blame but yours truly). You see not only do I have a manual 6-speed 1997 993 C2 parked in my garage, but a PDK 2010 997.2 3.8L C2S joined her in my garage's 2nd parking slot (my poor Jeep has been relegated to living outside this winter). When I first bought the 997 used last summer, it was stock complete with the original buttons steering wheel (which I hated) and without a doubt the 993 was more engaging to drive than the 997 even though the 997 is the faster car. But I have done two mods to the 997 which has radically transformed the car. You see not only did I replace the button steering wheel with a paddle shifter wheel, but I also installed a Fabspeed performance exhaust system complete with the cold air intake and all of a sudden the engagement aspect of the 997 not only closed the gap on the 993 but also might have exceeded the 993 thus rendering the 993 obsolete.

Now don't get me wrong, the 993 is a fantastic car. But the performance of the 997 is hard to ignore and while it's not GT3 fast, I kind of feel it's the next best thing as I am now pushing about 415 HPs over the stock 385 HP and/or the 285 HP of the 993. So where I am torn is that I know I really do need to try and sell the 993 come spring. Damn first world problems.

Hahaha, we are fortunate, indeed, to have such "problems" ...enjoy the dilemma

If you'd like another problem to fret over, try a scant 200HP on a 2500lb 911: loud, stiff, tactile and immediate ...downright irresistible! But when I get back into the 993, I oddly feel at home again. Life is better than I deserve!!!

Much to be done this year with the car. Biggest job is going to be a full suspension refresh. And of course the surprises as they come. Had a bunch of upgrades and changes in mind when I bought the car and now it will be a muffler exchange/upkeep/repairs. And that is it.

Wife liked the car so much she decided to go shopping this summer. Oh so close to purchasing a new 991.2 C2S w/ pdk and RAS. Chickened out she did and ended up with a 2018 Macan S instead, which is what she really wanted anyway. A far better choice as her daily after the dust settled from the impulse buy. Great fun.

8 months into ownership and now I don't want to spring-autumn part time daily my 993 anymore. Honeymoon period hasn't even begun to subside the urge the live in the car let alone drive it! Getting a weather break this weekend...time for a relaxed spin. Intentionally sought a driver grade 993 and after getting to know the car a bit 'odometer angst' still happened. In no rush but I have decided that a disposable 911 variant will become my part time daily. One that I don't care about the miles or weather.

Not a chance it will be PDK. Self grenading M96 (and M97) engines aside I actually like the driving dynamics of the ugly duckling 996. Wouldn't mind a fairly clean 40th AE. Or a decent 997.1C2S. Both are mostly depreciated and if/when the inevitable happens they are the definition of disposable. Also like a 996TT or a 997.2C2 or C2S. All three are better options reliability wise over the other two...but...

Pretty much exactly what Edward said in original post...except mine is not daily driver. I do love my car as it is!
