Who to root for at 24 Hrs today?
I saw the post a few days ago about TRG guys to be on the track this afternoon (after missing the paper deadline!)
Are there any regular rennlisters/"friends of the list" behind the wheel today?
thanks
John

I've been following the 86 car, a GT3 Cup in SGS class. One of the drivers is Ron Forristal. His name doesn't show on the team roster, but it has been showing on the TV position tape.
I met Ron at my first DE in 1996, it was his first DE too. We were in a similar line of work so had a bit in common. Over the next few years at various local DE events, I would meet up with him again. He moved from his AMG 500 to a RUF and now has a GT3 Cup car which he has been PCA club racing and doing fairly well with. He wanted to drive in the Daytona 500 this year, but since he couldn't organize an effort with his own car in time he bought a ride in the 86 car of G&W Motorsports. I think he is getting a real taste of what its like to run with (behind) the Big Dogs. At least they are still hanging!

Initially I was rooting for the Aasco team since they support the POC. But both cars seemed to have problems very early on. I hope TRG can make a strong run in the last few hours, but I'm not sure how far they are behind Mike Fitzgerald's team at the moment.

Hey Rich,
The 3.8L RSR engine in my racecar was built by AASCO for ALMS competition but never used. I've never met them, but their work is outstanding and they gave me a great deal on the engine. Like TRG luck seemed to be against them for this race, but given all that's happened I think that both teams have done a great job.
Unfortately as I type this it looks like TRG #66 may be out.

Skip,
That's great! I know Dennis & his crew have always done terrific work on race Porsches. They are highly regarded down here.

They are lucky the race had such a long caution and red flag time or Grand Am would have seen another lower class GT Porsche win all three spots on the podium. Orbit Racing and Flying Lizard Racing weren't but a couple laps back! And this was after GA handicapped the GT cars with a much smaller tank than what they ran last year.
Is it just me or does everyone think the Daytona Prototypes are hideous?

Greg,
IMHO, the Daytona Prototypes look like the Camel Light GT cars from the 80s. I think the class has potential, but they really need to work on the body. Some of the cars looked okay (Redbull, Brumos) but the Ganassi car looked terrible.
