What machine polish compound are you using?

Tried some of the more expensive polishes but use Meguiar's Compound with an orange pad and Meguiar's Polish with a white pad after claying. These products are shelf stable, safe, allow water pad cleaning and do a great job. I found some of the pricey brands were not shelf stable and unnecessarily costly.

I believe the Griot's compound in a yellow bottle referenced in an above post is called "Complete Compound". FWIW, It's extremely important to use the least aggressive compound in order to accomplish the task. Whether by hand or orbital, try a small section at a time to judge results. I've found that sometimes, especially with base coat/clear coat, it's better to get good, overall results without trying to get that one particular bad swirl or scratch completely out by buffing. ("Discretion is the better part of valor") Also, keep in mind that, if you have single stage paint and have a particularly bad area, careful wet-sanding with 1000, 1500 or 2000 grit and then polishing may be the best solution. Use the finest necessary to get the desired results. Just go slowly and check your progress often.

I use TLD compund glaze. https://tldproducts.com/collections/...ng-glaze-32-oz
Used Meguiars, 3m, swiss wax and angel wax compunds in the past, but this does it for me. Very easy to work with and cheap. Its a US product but fairly accessible here in Norway.
That said, I have no experience with Griot products but they sound nice.
I have been using TLD on all the Porsches and classic cars I've done (ish 20, just a hobby), and the result is fantasic every time.
Put your best effort into the compunding / correction phaze because that will always set the base standard of your polish job.
Pictures:
TLD compund glaze with flexipad microfiber pad on a DA machine. The result is insane!
Same 964. Outside after full treatment.
a short comparison on my own 993. Top: 3 min with TLD, microfiber pad and a DA, Centere: non-treated
Works on light coloured cars aswell. Red 964 before.
Red 964, 10 mins after.
Bmw m635 before
Bmw m635 after

I use the meguiar m105/m205 system with a porter cable DA and Chemical Bros orange and white pads.
My paint was pretty beat up with swirls and light scratches. The m105 compound is easy to work to get defects out. The m205 polish really makes it a nice mirror finish.
Topped it with meguiar synthetic sealer. Water beads great.
The factory paint is very soft so you don't have to do much...
This blog is a good reference ok technique. https://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-...ars-m105-m205/
