Post Still looking :(

I've had two deals go south on C4S's in the period of 2-3 weeks. I sold my M3 in Sept. and really started looking for a C4S in October. They must be really special because people put them up for sale, I bite on a car that suits me, then they pull the rug from under me and decide to keep it. Maybe it's God's way of saying that I shouldn't have a Porsche. Shaking my head here in Portland

Be patient Randy. You'll find a car. It took me several months of searching (and a few PPI's that didn't result in sales). Even with all the talk about the dropping prices and "glut" of 993's on the market, finding the RIGHT one will still be a challenge. At least it's fun looking.

Randy, I don't know what color you are looking for, but here is one in Arena Red. It's a beautiful color, and has low miles.

Randy: Maybe it's God's way of telling you to buy a 993tt - it's a buyer's market, and you'll love the performance!!

Seriously, as John suggests, be patient. I've purchased three Porsches - none took less than 6 months of searching and the last took more than a year. All three times I found exactly what I wanted - I didn't compromise a thing.

Good luck.

I'll hold out for the GT2 (pant, pant). Anyone interested enough in it to ask me to go test drive it for them?

Dj's car is probably nice but I'm looking for something w/ low miles. Pin and I had a deal on his car then he got cold feet and backed out. He has his reasons I guess. I dont blame him but its dissappointing. As far as color I'm not too picky but I know I dont want black, yellow, (red, metallic or otherwise). Ideally I would want charcoal gray or polar silver w/ under 35K nicely optioned.

Randy, don't discount DJ's car just because it has some miles. Miles to the 993 are unlike most other makes - I should know. My car has 110k.

If you find the car you like, mileage shouldn't really affect the decision. DJ's is a 98 (most recent build), with lots of extras that will cost a fortune to do on your own. Plus, it's grey and you are not going to find many grey 993s for sale.

What's not to like:

See other pics here

Good luck.

E.J. is making a good point which applies to many other cars as well. Furthermore, most low mileage cars are often worse than ones with closer to average miles assuming the engine was properly broken-in and the car was well driven and maintained regularly. I happen to know DJ and his car and I certainly can vouch for all of the above.

To me, a 1996 car with 10k miles has less value than one with 30k or more well driven miles.

I was thinking the same thing when I followed Matt's link over to RPM's website inventory - who the heck buys a new 96 or 97 993tt and then puts 8,000 miles on it in six years!? I'd be quite nervous about garage rot at that point.

Look on the PCA Mart, I think there are a couple of silver C4S types for sale...if you are not a member of PCA, join the Quest Program....six months of membership for $30.00....Get Panorama and use of the web site...

Berkley,
I have Joined the Quest program and I sit waiting for the mail to bring me the information. :-(

Are there any 993 turbos in the Mart?

Thanks,
Pete
