I can personally attest to the wisdom of Brian's advice. I'm still finding drops in obscure parts of my garage 2+ years later.

Being an avid woodworker I have used my Porter Cable random orbital for various sanding jobs for years now, and it doubles as a polisher pretty well. I don't totally agree about it being foolproof though...its easy to overdo the polishing. Its easy to fling polish everywhere, and be really carefull on the compound curves and close to mouldings and edges that the pad can catch. On wide open areas it certanly beats putting it on by hand. I have stopped using it on my 911 anyways...my paint is pretty good and you don't have to polish Zaino...just wipe on and wipe off! ;-)

Cheers,

Mike

You are for sure on the right path. Coastal tool is the way to go. They have put together the uber kit needed for starting out right. I love their story too...they are a small shop in CT that read posts on www.autopia.org and realized everyone was having to buy all these pieces to get what they wanted, so they put together this kit. I think they sold about 2000 last year...power of the web. Here is an amazing link with more info than you need:

Uber info on Porter Cable

FWIW, here is what I did once I got my PC:
JPS adventures with PC

and here is another link that I found helpful for the PC:
