Post Looking for the location of the paint code, or a bodyshop translation for A1A1 (black

I haven't been able to find my paint code. I looked in the engine compartment, and the door jamb with no luck. My shop manuals and owners manual are where I can't get to them. I did find my window sticker, which had the code A1A1, but that code didn't seem like the code to give to the bodyshop. The car is a black '95.

Thanks!
David

Accd'g to the info book I have, A1A1 is non-metallic black - which you should be able to tell just by looking at your car!

I THINK that it's a 4 digit identifier beginning with an "L" on the white sticker on the inside of your trunk lid. Perhaps someone can verify.

David, peel back the right side carpet (passenger side) in the front trunk and you should see another white sticker - aft of the headlight release lever. That sticker will have both the paint code and the interior color code.

What they translate to, I can't really help with though.

Thanks for the help. I called the paint supply house, and A1A1 is indeed the general number (which came from the window sticker). I guess I expected the general code to be much longer.

David,

719 is non-metallic black and 746 is metallic black. Hope that helps.

E.J.,
I got these numbers from the trunk 741 9 4 WBL Black A1. Oh well, the paint shop recognized the A1 from their books, so it should work out. I'm only having an rs splitter painted that I busted.

Thanks,
David

Okay David, just as long as the paint guy knows what to do. Not sure why the numbers don't match up though?
