Andy and OG, I just chatted with Bob and it looks like he's got the lowest price and shipping is apparently not a problem at all, so I'll order from him, thanks for the heads up.

OG, thanks for the pics, while not the sharpest I've ever seen, they're certainly good enough to prove that the tips look just as good as the OEM ones.

Last question, hopefully to be dismissed easily ... with the air cavities now created in the absence of the large mufflers, any strange sound resonance or aerondynamic issues plaguing those side pod areas?

I did not notice any. And I have been driving for two days
without the stereo and the window down, so I would notice
something. I thought about those cavities when I pulled out the
mufflers but no problmes besides the quicker spin up of the turbos!

By the way forgive my poor photography!

Okay now I'm a bit confused....are the Fabspeed muffler bypass the same as the Fabspeed Supercups? I have an earlier version of the latter and tips look nowhere near as good as the ones on Bob's car. If they are different, are the muffler bypass available for non-turbos?

For a normaly aspirated car be forwarned a muffler bypass would be very loud. The tubos on a TT help muffle the sound somewhat.

Dave - sorry I didn't mean to confuse the issue. I was just sharing an experience with John. The muffler bypasses are for the TT. Supercups are for the NA cars.

It's not your snapping abilities at fault--that's the ground shaking causing the blur.

I am a believer. I can hardly wait till friday!!
a trip to the dealer to get the windsheild replaced
and I get to go thru the canyons of hwy 178 to bakersfield!!
I will be accompanied by a 95 993 cab. He doesnt know
about the sound, wieght and HP difference. He will know in
the canyons!!
I wish ViperBob had a full color catalog!! NOW THAT would be
dangerous!!

Loverly car oldguy

Seems like on the 996 the muffler bypass pipes are an even better solution than the fabpseed straight pipes on my 996TT. They do sound good...

But darn being inside my car will give anyone a migraine

Sharky,

The 996TTs have a different configuration for the exhaust. Yours DOES come straight out from the turbos with a pipe. A 993TT still has larger cats, and an exhuast the crosses over from side to side in the back. All of this deadens the sound quite a bit compared to your car. As such, it is also less efficient than the newer cars...
