What wheels are commonly used for track tires. I have been using my cups on my 95 993 and need a second set to mount hoosiers and figured I should try something else. Does anyone have any for sale?thanks

I bought some 18" 'Turbo Twist' style wheels from a fellow Rennlister and pressed them into duty as track wheels after having them shod with some Pirellis.
At some point I may move the Twist wheels to street duty and use my 17" Cup wheels for the track.
Check www.wheelenhancement.com for a good selection of different wheels, they also have used wheels for sale at (slightly) reduced prices.
Are you going to trailer your car to the track with those Hoosiers?

There are countless options, factory and aftermarket, all dependant on your tastes and wallet. If you're looking "budget" route, however, I feel there's nothing better than someone else's used OEM wheels. There are lots of of 993/996 guys out there just itching to upgrade their 17" or 18" wheels. Many of the 996 are take-offs; most I've seen are in superb shape. For the price and known quality, I don't think there's anything that can beat used OEMs.

I bought a set of new 7.5/9 X 17 Mille Miglias when I got my 993. Problem is that the offset is a bit too far to the outside of the body, esp. in the rear. I'm havng some trouble with fender rubbing with my 255/40X17 Michelin Pilot Sport Cups.
Based on this, would agree with getting a set of used OEM wheels as best option.

I'd suggest sticking with 17" wheels because they are lighter than 18's and tires are much less expensive. One option is to buy a set of aftermarket Cup wheels from Wheel Enhancements. They are 1/2" wider than stock and less expensive.
There was a set of 17" Cup wheels on eBay recently for $550. A real steal if that was the final selling price.

Here's a photo of my wife driving our 964. As you can see, we've got a set of 17" OEM 993 wheels (spacers were required in the rear) sporting Kuhmo Victoracers.

I got the wheels from a fellow Rennlister for a bargain. No, they weren't immaculate, but that's exactly what I wanted for track wheels.
