I plan to keep my 993 Cab a long time as it has been bulletproof and still so much fun to drive. With some luck would like to add a new 911 Tip Coupe. Maybe a 997, or 996, but want to feel comfortable first that it will meet my quality expecations first. If Porsche does away with the M96 blocks for all 997's that would help.

AM Vanquish...when I find the powerball ticket that woman in Ohio stole from me.

Actually, I'd stay in the family - maybe a 997 if it pans out as we all wish. Porsche's supercar performance and reliability suit me just jazzy.

And I'm looking for an MB 300GE Cabriolet if anyone spots one...pm me.

A 993 GT2? I think that is the correct designation. 993 turbo with the cool wing and flared fenders...

The only thing I'd replace my n/a 993 with is a 993TT.

I've driven several 996's and they don't have the feel of the 993. The 996 drives very much like my '96 M3 (sold). I just couldn't connect with that car. It was too refined, maybe? I knew it was Supposed to be a great car but I just couldn't convince myself. I was afraid that since I'd passed 50, maybe I'd lost the passion.

I didn't. I have my 993.

Well, that's not completely true. I'd also consider a GT3.

And since TN has the lottery now, my second car will be a McLaren F1.

For the amount of money I can spend (i.e. value of my 993)....nothing.

If money was not the issue (which if this was the case I would keep the 993 and also get some of the following)....996 GT3, 996 GT2, probably a Ferrari Modena F1, Aston Martin Vanquish, and some other exotics (some only available in Europe). I am a Porsche nut but I love cars and I appreciate and would love to own some other makes also. Since $$ is a factor and I can only have one I will stick with the 993 until Porsche offers something that stirs my soul and that I can afford.

For me, it would have to be a White GT3...although CP's RUF sounds intriguing too!

Ok - I'd never sell my 993, but if I did, I'd get a car I've lusted after ever since I'd first seen it - a Mercedes Benz 2003 CL600 or CL500 or CL55 or if it's many years from now and highly used, a CL65 ($$$$).

I just love the lines of that car.

Peace out,
Steve

PS - Oh yeah - it's not too bad in black either
Yeah - it's a boulevard cruiser and not really a "sports car" in the same vein as my 993, but it is very HOT!

I see a lot of members list 996 GT3 as their choice. I'm sure it's a great sports car, and at 380 HP peak power, it's got formidable acceleration as well (0-60 4 seconds). The one issue that I have with this car is it's relatively low torque number: 284 ft-lbs. I realize that it is superior compared to most cars, and the 993 NA cars boasts 251 ft-lbs, so the 996 GT-3 is a good step up (13% more torque).

Unfortunately, I'm a totally spoiled brat. My M5 and RUF come with 369 ft-lbs (3,800 RPM ) and 435 ft-lbs respectively. So I'm used to the instant-on torque, at any speed, in any gear. Thus, unless I keep the GT-3 in lower gears, I'll find myself lusting for more torque.

Take nothing away from the GT-3, it's a great car, but in my case, it would not be a satisfactory replacement for my cars.

In fact, my current cars are both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that they are truely great cars and complement each other perfectly. The curse is that I find little or no intertest in other cars at this point, may be for a long long time to come. Worse yet, I worry that whatever car I buy in the future, will be a huge let down from what I own now.
