Default Drop Link Boots

Pulling the front control arms to replace the bushings and ball joints, and found the boots of the drop links are shot. Looking at the parts book, it doesn't appear replacement boots are part of the plan. Anyone have a source for these boots?

thanks

Marc

The links take a beating and if the boots are shot the nylon sockets and rubber bushings are probably not far behind. They're not expensive, I'd just replace both links and bushings and enjoy the crisper cornering.

Not too sure what your view on not expensive is! $200 a pop for the M030/4WD versions

I found boots for the front links at https://www.balljointboots.co.uk/tra...end-boots.html. The smallest size works well. I’ve not found a source for the rear drop link boots yet.

Here's a link for all types and sizes, with great pricing! (Front and rear drop links, tie rods...)

... As previously mentioned, just as long as the heim joints are still in good shape.

I have used their products with great success, longevity, and durability!

good call on ebay (ordered a different size)....found some boots that should do the job. I'll let you know how the fitment goes. Is this a great place or what?

Thanks again

Agreed. Surely if you're replacing everything else............ and the boots are split, you'd have to call the links a worn out wear part and replace them too.

You're welcome Marc.
In the link I provided, I was not suggesting that was the size you needed. Only to get you to the eBay listing where you could purchase the correct size for your application.
Happy it worked out for you.

...and here's what the replacement boots look like. As you can see, I haven't figured out how to get the retaining ring on yet, but fitment seems pretty good.

the size I ordered was 17x33x26mm from ebay/polyboots.com (no affiliation).
any suggestions for getting the ring on?

Marc

I used ties. Both ties need to be no wider than 2mm, They fit nicely into the groove. Note these are droplinks on a 964.
