Wink Sneak peek (flares)

Hey guys,
Just dropped by the bodyshop today after giving them the go ahead to do the bodywork. I'm sure you all saw my strange posts about fender flares and wheel widths.

Well here are the pics of what I've been up to:

They are clubsport flares from betterbodies (which fit extremely well to my amazement). The front bumper (MA Shaw) is the second version of the one used on GT2 Evos. Also in the rear there is a carbon GT1 intake wing which is AIR's take on the factory GT2 as well as a used carbon curved upper element from a GT2.

Here is what I chose to do the job of keeping the fenders attached.

They are stainless Camloc studs (for the 1/4 quick release function) mated with small billet aluminum adjustable depth receptacles (about the size of my finger tip). I thought they were pretty neat and ended up being nicer than I expected.

I'll post more as the bodywork progresses.

Very nice that is a ton of work you have going on. I really like the front bumper. I can only imagine the volume of air you will be able to suck in there.

I have a fair amount of experience with 1/4 turn fasteners, and those look like they are straight out of the Boeing, or McDonell Douglas parts bins. But, I just had to comment about the receptacles, I haven't seen that style before, and they look to be of a higher quality than I am used to seeing on aircraft.

Good luck with everything, and I'll look forward to more pictures!

Very nice... I like the Evo front bumper... I don't think you are going to have an issue with lack of air to the oil coolers with those openings.

Have you thought of painting the flares in Speed Yellow?? That would give it a nice contrasting look

Hey Princeton,

It's going to look very nasty when completed. Cool.

Instead of "Creative Director", maybe you should be "Design Director".

PW, looks great! I was going to wait until I smacked a fender at the track and do that to the TT car before I bought the Cup. I think it looks awesome! Glad the wheel info helped out, make sure to hook up with me at the TWS race next season.
Happy Holidays!

I am having second thoughts on those fasteners Princeton. They look pretty heavy to me. Plus they look to darn nice. Maybe you should send them to me and go out and get some nice simple lightweight aluminum dzus fasteners...

Thanks guys.

Sputnik- Its from AIR (american international racing) in cali. Its thier carbon fiber GT1 intake wing. I believe they ended production of the carbon fiber version though.

Bob- HAHA, then I'd be the negative image of Skip and a moving passing flag. Luckilly the fasteners are still quite lightweight .

Mike- Done .

Glen- Sure thing. Are you ever around at DEs or do you mostly do club racing?

Looks great. Did you do the GT2 front nose with all the ducting, so the oil coolers just slide in like the do in the race cars? I see the cooler on the right side but can't tell how it is mounted.

Your car's gonna be bad-***. Can't wait to see it when it's all finished, Princeton.

Greg- Its just rotated on the stock mounting in the rear and has an extra bracket hodling it up front. Have any pics of the ones that slide in and out? I'm always looking for projects that lead to some sort of quick release system hehe.
