Thumbs up Gert

Just an on Gert Carnewal. I ordered a Motorsound Air filter cover from Gert on Tuesday October 22 @ 10:35 AM via FAX (Gert says that Europe is still far behind in the on line payments… FAX was easy enough and he had an E-Mail reply of receipt in my box before I noticed that the FAX was complete!). Wed. October 23 1:40 PM…Maureen Carnewal E-Mailed that the shipment was picked up by DHL.This AM @ 7:30, Friday October the 25th, the package was in my hands (point to point 42 hours!).

That’s Belgium to Saint Louis, Missouri with normal delivery!

Just another.. Gert’s the Man story.

Yes, Gert is the man. DHL in Cincinati, OH DEFINITELY are NOT. My GT3 seats from Gert went out on Wednesday. It's taken 2+ days for the seats to get out of customs there. Having them here for the weekend DIY would have been nice.

Sorry, had to vent.

Curious.....I sent Gert a question via e-mail last Thursday and have not heard back. Even mentioned in the note that I found him here. Actually I thought it was a simple one but maybe not. I was trying to find out if the carbon/alum shift and e-brake handles were available for Marble Grey interior.

I have had Gert aswer my questions in the middle of the night via email (literally 5AM his time!)...he may have missed the email or you asked a question that is more difficult.

Have not ordered from the man yet but when I get the $$ together for those PSS-9's...he is on my list! But of course I will shop around...

Cheers,

Mike

I received a response almost immediately on E-mails… maybe he didn’t receive it? I would try again. He seems to never sleep.

I'd have to concur with the majority...am now in the process of ordering a few trinkets from Gert and he has been answering a number of my emails over the weekend. I'd resend the email if you haven't gotten a response in 24-36 hours.

Matt - I'm sure you'll like your seats. btw before you install them, would you mind weighing them, especially the brackets? I'm curious how much they weigh w/ and w/o brackets and I'm too lazy to pull mine out of my car I'm thinking about getting the brackets that mount the seats directly to the floor (at least for the drivers side). Thanks.

Matt I tottally agree on DHL Cincinnati. After 3 days of the tracking info saying on hold. I called DHL and was told no information for customs was missing and I would need to check the Cincinnati office which I did. The Cincinnati office couldn't find why and needed to check the brokers. Well my stuff came the next morning. Previous stuff from Gert came in a matter of days, but it also went via a different DHL city.

A lot of reasons for a shipment to take a while through customs. DHL actually called me to verify some information because of some inaccuracies. I had the seats sent to my office so they didn't have the address on file.

But I checked the DHL site today, and it appears they are finally on their way. I would guess they show up some time tomorrow.

Uh oh, you could be in trouble. I had a shopment of bumper covers get held up in Cincy for a week last month. DHL blamed customs. It got so bad, I contacted customs myself, did some investigative work, contacted DHL and gave them the info they couldn't obtain, customs released the parts the same day they received them, three days in a row was promised by DHL they would ship to me that day, then DHL tried shipping to my house when I had called THREE TIMES with a re-route address. I'm trying to get the shipping cost refunded, and Gert is assisting, but DHL's position is they are not responsible.

Subsequent orders have flown right through, as Charles indicated. Gert has been an absolute delight to work with, and his prices are unbelievably low. Shipping is not as bad as I expected - on Turbo S intakes, 2 day shipping was $50. I called a "discount" dealership in the states, and their "dealer cost" was $150 more than Gert's price, not including the 15% markup. They also wanted $20 for questionable 7 day shipping.

Moral - don't wait for large shipments to order from Gert. I had an instance of lost parts that Gert has dealt with professionally. In my mind I thought the bodyshop was responsible for replacing parts that were shipped (and I paid duty on). The bodyshop claims they never received them, but couldn't find the shipping label. Gert replaced them free of charge, no hassle. He was even so courteous with the bodyshop that they complimented him to me, saying he was a very nice person to deal with. And this was in the heat of their dispute.

I'm not affiliated with Gert nor do I profit from pushing his name - I've just become a loud-mouthed supporter. He has really taken care of me.

Ok, I must admit - I did submit a design for Gert's new website logo. BUT, it was not chosen, so I'm still un-affiliated!

One can just get anxious about these things. The seats arrived today and I installed them tonight. They fit like a glove.
