96 C4S Whats glaringly wrong with this ?
Been a while...and have always been in the pre 993 forums.
Before I inquire with the seller, I am potentially looking at this, but it looks rough on the inside, also is the low pricing telling me something more seriously is wrong?
Sold my 86 widebody and wanting to get back into something else. Not scared of 'some work' but don't want an immediate money pit either.

Interior looks beautiful. Where do you get "rough" from?
As for price, which really isn't far off, may be some maintenance that needs doing, up to valve guides. And the rims are *terrible.* Hard to tell the real condition based on those tiny pics.

Seems like a steal to me. Head unit and wheels are the not stock but without a service history, it's hard to say. It could be leaking from every seal and gasket or it could be genuinely a cracking car.

- Trim over rear center reflector is missing.
- Shift **** looks like it came out of a 200,000 mile car.
- Alternator pulley appears to be old style.
- Pressboard trunk carpet insert is caved in, either from storing a soaking-wet car cover in the trunk, or transporting 80-lb bags of Sacrete.
- Wheels belong on Craigslist.
Other than that, it's a clean-looking example. I'd like to see pictures of the suspension, floorpan and the underside of the engine before getting excited.

Here are some larger pictures

Thanks Andreas.....I was hoping for that kind of feedback.
That shift **** was somewhat of an alarm to me as well....it looks like someone was really working it hard.
I'll see if they can shoot me some underside photos and of course inquire on service history. Would valve guide issues be discovered with PPI ?
Thanks in advance

Did you look at the Carfax? It was issued a salvage/rebuilt title in CA due to severe damage reported.

It seems exceedingly shady of them not to disclose that up front in the ad....unless I just totally missed it.

There is an actual warning from Car Fax that this might be a case of title washing as the car was totaled in 1996, rebuilt in 2005 and now has a clear title after transferring across states.
The link is on the page.

Thanks you Ken.....always a pleasure to have this community save you from yourself !
I'm amazed that EBAY would allow one to advertise a car without disclosing upfront that salvage title....not that I depend on them for doing my due diligence, but it just seems like 2 business have failed their prospective customer.

Currently, it does NOT have a salvage title. It SHOULD have one but it does not. That is an even bigger issue.
