Default Spark Plug Wires

While changes plugs I noticed a couple wires were cracked. Did the caps/rotors and now thinking I will install new wires. Found DIY and my hand will not fit between intake runners. Guy must have small hands in the diy. I will not be denied! Can I remove the Allen bolts on the intake manifold to get room? Is there a gasket? I anm getting a 90 degree screw driver to help, but space is limited. Any helpful hints? Thanks in advance!

Also there is two Beru kits on pelican. What is the difference?

You can loosen the 6 clamps at the bottom of the intake and tilt it back a little for more wiggle room.

I ordered my Beru wires through FD Motorsports. Loosening the intake slight helps.

Removing intake is actually not that bad. Plus if you have V-ram you can replace the leaking gasket. The trickiest part is disconnecting throttle cable (blind) and for some reason reinstalling the ISV. You will have to lower the motor slightly (i.e. disconnect engine mounts) to get intake out.

I used the less expensive of the two Beru sets offered on Pelican for a friends car. I didn't see anything about them that was different then OEM.

Thank you for the responses. Still not crazy about taking the how intake manifold out. I was just planning on loosening the intake manifold runner bolts. About to order now the wires.

I would just lift the intake manifold rather than removing it, I've done both and lifting it alone will give you a lot more room to work as long as you unbolt the motor mounts and lower the engine down some. Be careful to plug the intakes so nothing falls into the engine.

Removing it altogether does make plug wires a cake walk though.

I'm thinking the difference might be explained in the DIY post below...

What is the year of your 993? Sometimes if we have 2 of the same parts listed, it's because they're from 2 different suppliers of ours. Sometimes one supplier has a lower price than the other- doesn't mean the parts are different.

OK - so I have just spent like 30 minutes looking at this. What a nightmare getting to those two sets of screws on the inside. My hand is unfortunately big so no go on the Runner 5 and 6 access. Even then I don't know about the other screws on the other side.

Venting - the person who designed this car really wanted to torture us. Why not push the screws towards the outside. That and the secondary slave clutch.

So how do I remove intake manifold. What am I missing below
1. Intake runner clamps (bottom or top)?
2, Two bolts holding it the brace on left hand side
3, Remove ISV
4. Lower engine - do you have to do four bolts? I know where the normal bolts are for engine mounts toward bumper. Jack under and slowly lower - how much?
5. I see one or two hose clamps way in the back

Might tackle this winter.

I was able to do mine on a 95 without lowering the engine.
