Default A word we must ban from the 993 forum!

I was explaining my future mod plans for my 993 to a good friend, who is a Porsche owner and an avid german auto enthusiast as well. We came around to the front of the narrow body car and I was detailing the procedure to change out the front bumper cover in exchange for the euro turbo bumper, I explained the unsightly 'bumperettes" and the need for eliminating them, thus creating a more cohesive front silhouette. He abruptly interrupted my banter while looking me straight in the face and told me never again to use that word in his presence. I reflected on the comment and concurred. We as a group of dedicated, passionate individuals should bond together in banning the word 'bumperette" from our collective vocabulary. Granted, we will need to generate another descriptive word for the ghastly pimples that protrude from the pampered brow's of our Teutonic machines, but given the effeminate french sound of the word in question, this should not be taxing on our creativity. I propose a new quest for a replacement word that aptly describes the black goiters and put to rest the bon-mot "bumperette" forever. if you google "bumperette" you mostly dredge up PT Cruiser and Corvette posts.. I'm not even going to comment on this issue.

Let's see: it's a silly little useless thing that serves no purpose except to annoy us. I think a french word is rather appropriate.

How about bumper nipples? Still effemminate but in a more curiously arousing way.

Coleman,
How about "*****" or "nipples"???

Or hell, maybe even "nipplettes". At least it makes you laugh instead of pissing you off.

That's mature.... Especially now that it looks the annoying french might have been right to stay out of the mess you're alluding to in your comment. Go ahead, whatever... Damn this Lafayette guy !

Yeah, gets tiresome after a while... Blame the french, easy target, lost WW2 real fast, disagreed on Irak... Capital crimes, huh ?

GregD,

What's your background? You stated "damn this Lafayette guy", but there are so many lafayattes that I'm wondering which you are referring to. I'm only asking because I'm from Louisiana, proudly of french heritage and happy to see someone jump in before the bloodletting really began.

Exactly? What's wrong with that word? In any case that's the "technical" word used by everyone from the mechanics, parts guy, and even the sales people at the dealership.

GregD-
Hey I enjoy your posts and you're a good contributor and all, but I don't think name calling is appropriate for harmless jokes like that above. We could use some thicker skin around here!

As a "bumperette" free (front and rear) member I vote to keep the word as well. The word "bumperette" is so annoying that it is an incentive to get rid of them.

Eric, you crack me up... "Harmless" in the eyes of the beholder. As far as i concerned, you started the name calling !

I apologize, the above comment must have been a compliment. Silly me ;-) Oh yeah, I am french, and frankly quite tired of all the BS surrounding Irak. I don't even wanna go there anyway, a free country should be allowed to disagree with another... Just did not appreciate your post, just like you wouldn't have if you were in my shoes or if I joked about George W or americans ! no biggie... I should not even have bothered replying...
