No, you don't. At least, not for the reasons you are changing your dampers and springs.

mike cap,
Thanks for the compliments. I am very proud of Gretchen (car) and I do try to take care of her and keep her immacualte. I am very happy with thr ride height as it is, I just wanted a firmer and tighter ride. So it seems we both want change, just for different reasons. Good luck with your changes.

Mike, since you started out with a standar M032 suspension, will you need to alter the sway bars and/or drop links when installing the HD/R&W ? Also, completer re-allignment necessary ? Like many others, I need to replace the factory shocks (40 k miles), and like to be just as good or better informed than the mechanic who is going to execute the replacement ? Thanks, and pleaes post pics of ylour car (preferably before and after).

Barney,

I will post "after pics" in a few weeks with measurements. Yes, a re-alignment is required, but no on the sway bars or drop links. I had a question on this as well, but Viken and others answered it earlier in this thread.

You are wise to do your research now and avoid having to do the job twice, as I did.

Best of luck on your project.

Default my own recent experience

well, fwiw, i just swapped out h&r coilovers for an M033/HD combo (just to add that to the mix) to reduce harshness and i think it worked pretty well. i also actually raised car to about 25 3/4" from 25". still a nice looking height and more comfortable for street.

John,

I took some time today and measured my car's ride height with the Bilstein HD's and standard OEM springs. Ride height front is 26 3/4" and 26 5/8" rear. This is meaured from a flat surface along the center line of the wheels vertically to the fender lip where it rolls in.

I assume that your 25 3/4" meaurement is at these same points?

My target height, when the M030 springs are installed will be a lowering of 1", so it should be very close to your car.

Thanks for posting your positive comments on the Bilstein HD's and M030 springs. I will post this note and take a look at the photos of your Targa.

Mike,

According to John's post, he installed M033 springs, not M030.

mike, yes i measured at same points, but any photos of my car at this point are still the h&r set up. car is now modestly higher , actually i think it looks better , for my taste. and as speedraser noted, i put on M033's not M030's as i was told the 33s are softer , which is what i needed.
good luck , john.
