I want to put three point belts in the back of a 993 cab and as I understand u.s. spec cars have this as standard. I did a search and came up with that the back seat is fixed. Would it be possible to "fix" the seats that are in the car or would I have to replace the whole rear seats? If someone has a pic of there rear seat that would at least give me a clue as to what I need. Do the belts mount on the seat back them selves or to the side?

I've just removed the rear seats out of my US-spec cab. From what I saw, I think it would be difficult to mount 3 pt belts with fold-back seats as the belts are mounted inboard and are guided through the seat brace. This is different than for a coupe where the belts are mounted outboard. It may be possible to mount the seatbelt reels (the just bolt on to the body of the car) but the guides are in the seat brace so you'd have to come up with an alternative. They also would not be hidden when you have the seats folded down.
I was originally hoping to mount fold down rear seats (like in my Euro-spec cab) in the car but it looked like there would be some welding of mounting points required. Looks like I will be putting in a rear-seat=delete kit or just recarpet the area.

yank: The first photo does appear to be the tower from the back. In the second the seat backs have been removed from the "tower" and are just sitting by themselves. What's not shown in either photo are the "seats" which are simply pads glued to the shelf in the back.

Tom are the seats a diffent shape from those that are in a coupe? The seats in a non u.s. spec car are the same in both cab and coupe. Do you think it would be possible to use my old back seats and just get a tower?

I never pay much attention to the rear seats in a coupe so I can't say for sure, but I would think they are too different to fit with the tower. I'll take a couple pictures tomorrow and email them or post them so you can see what a US cab rear looks like. (Given the time differential, look for them Sunday.)

The seatbacks in a US-spec cab are very different than those in a Euro-spec cab. The US seatbacks are narrower as the brace/tower has a central tunnel. The US seatbacks attach to the brace/tower via 3 bolts on each side; the brace attaches to the car with 4 bolts in the back and 1 in the front.
You will not be able to use the US brace with your existing seats - if you install the brace there will not be enough room for the seatbacks nor your inner pivot point; the seat bottoms though are identical. Your best bet would be to have some sort of pillar fabricated that would mount behind your seats, which could then guide the belts - without the guide the seatbelts would pull down instead of backwards in a collision. You would also have to address how you conceal the belt spindles - in US cabs they are hidden under the carpet on the backside of the tower brace and are bolted to the body (1 bolt each I think). Or you could just get a US tower/seat to replace your existing folddown seats...you will have to drill and tap 7 holes (5 for the tower brace and 2 for the belt spindles), and you may also have to remove your hinge fittings.
