Are you sure about the EV abandonment thing? Looks like the Cayenne EV will be here mid summer. BYD exported 1M EV units in 2025 and are tracking to export 2M units in 2026. If Porsche abandons the EV market,, it will be bad for 911 buyers.
A Nordic Gold Cayenne EV spotted yesterday at The Topaco Lodge in North Carolina, located on the N.C. side of U.S. 129, aka The Dragon. Porsche Plática is tomorrow in Knoxville, Tennessee. Tons of Porsches in the NC/TN/GA area this weekend for the event. Edit: Which apparently GA tickets sold out this morning.

I guess I’m not sure. Maybe it’s all a lie.

Modern manuals are overrated. Clutch pedals lighter than a helium balloon. Hill hold, assists, autoblip. There is a good reason the PDK has such a high take rate when available.

Interesting stance considering, on the flip side of that coin, you have people who complain about clutches being too stiff, leg/muscle discomfort from shifting, foot pain from shifting, etc. Most people can’t even heel-toe, so who cares if there’s an auto-blip feature (…that can be mode disabled)?!? If Porsche didn’t offer the creature comforts, you’d be complaining that your 10 year old [enter make/model here] has it, but the Porsche doesn’t.
So which is it? Are people just weaklings who need some gym time or are clutches unnecessarily too soft?!?

Who knows. We have people complaining that PSE is too loud, and then there are others that spend $10k on cats and an exhaust.

Everyone is different? I don't find modern manuals engaging. I also never had an issue driving my manuals, with heavy clutches in traffic. Really lost interest when I had a 997.1 turbo 6mt.
I like all the little creature comforts in my 911. I have all the "nannies". Might go back to a 356 or pre 73 911 when my little guy gets out of college in a decade. Time will tell.
No way that will happen. Someone posted (FWIW) that the MT take rate on the T is only 70%. Imagine that - the only non-GT that has an available MT and the take rate is just 70%. IMO the only reason to buy at T is the MT. They’re underpowered and a well optioned T weighs just as much as a lightly optioned S.
Maybe somebody else here knows for sure, but my understanding is the MT in the T is not the same (read: as stout) as the one in the GT. If that’s true and the T take rate is only 70%, I can’t see Porsche putting any additional development cost into strengthening it and therefore the T won’t be getting any significant step up in HP.
Thats my logic, yours may vary.
Lets assume you are talking 992.1…
You do realize that a 70% take rate is 7 out of 10 cars being equipped with a manual right? Because you keep saying “only 70%”. In effect the “majority” of 992.1 T were equipped with a manual.
No. Take rate for manuals for the 992.1 S was less than 10% worldwide.
Porsche didn’t offer a manual in some markets. The correct number to look at is North America and as posted, that was approx 20% ( which I still think is low).
I've heard rumors of a manual .2 S since January. Some of those rumors suggest a manual as part of a package with performance enhancements similar to the T, essentially a "super" T. Any such offerings would likely take sales away from the T, which suggests that it would only make sense to PCNA if it had a higher profit margin. Since the engine in the T and the S are mechanically identical, with the only real difference being the tune, that suggests that the S has a higher profit margin as other differences between the two models are (presumably) accounted for by the current difference in price. It therefore would appear to make financial sense for PCNA to push for a manual option in the S.
Modern manuals are overrated. Clutch pedals lighter than a helium balloon. Hill hold, assists, autoblip. There is a good reason the PDK has such a high take rate when available.
That's not the reason. It's because PDK has gotten so good. Porsche manual transmissions are better than they've ever been
