That is what I did , but then my dealer sent me that screenshot that made me doubt my process as the #3 clip sits below the front trim ( 992863475A OK1 COVER FOR LOCK CARRIER - MATT BLACK) which is #1 in the diagram.
Where our clip should sit below 992863081B OK1 COVER - MATT BLACK as you said which is 21 in the diagram.
Correct. When I look up a part, and while it would be nice if the images were accurate, they often are not. The images are at some level generic. So when the image seems a bit off from what the data describes, always go with the data.

Yes these PET are notoriously bad.
So conclusion...the clip we need is indeed PAF827649?
I am also missing one of the P/N PAF827649 Clips. So I read this thread with some interest.
I believe the replacement Clip is both OK and it's also different than the original.
Here is my theory. See the picture below. (FWIW, Thank you Photoshop.)
What I did was to trace the visible edge of the "new" clip (red) and then drop that trace on the visible image of the original clip. I had to rotate it a few degrees but that's it.
The business end of this design are it's hips (yellow arrows). The opposing ramps appear identical as well as all other shapes, with the exception of it's tip length.
I'm inclined to believe this is "technically" an acceptable revision to what is almost certainly a part that is used on other cars in Porsche's product line.
For all I know the reduction in the tip length may be an intentional design change.
The only downside I see is that it might make physically replacing the cover a bit more challenging. Aligning the Clips with their Sockets already being similar to what I imagine it would be like playing with a Ouija Board, blindfolded.
.
I had this happen a few years ago. My dealer got me a new clip but it was smaller than the original. They swore it was the correct part. Undaunted, I contacted Suncoast parts and got one from them. It was the same size. Since it seemed too small I was afraid that the cover might vibrate but I never heard any noise.

thank you.
so the clip from suncoast matches the original or the smaller replacement from your dealer.
what was end result?
two correct sizes?
or two small ones that work fine.
The clip from Suncoast was the smaller one. I used the smaller ones and they worked fine. My OCD didn't like it though.
and my OCD does not.
thankfully my dealer “found” one.
and my parts guy located some extras.
so if that’s a fact.
I will get them and send you some!
same for blue Highway.

All, my local parts department finally found the exact part that goes into the frunk. I've compared to the remaining one left and the size and material is idential.
Part Number: 955 555 278 00

Thanks. I ordered 4.
If one disappeared it probably won't be the last one to do so. Time to build an inventory.
Delivery is supposed to be Thursday the 23rd.
When I get them I'll post some pictures alongside the one original I still have.

Haha.,..you two are beating me to it. And I am like you.
I ordered 6 of each....but my order not processed yet...weekend...
Windshield Pillar Trim Clip $5.10 Part # 999-507-839-01 6x $0.85
Windshield Pillar Trim Clip $6.36 Part # 955-555-278-00 6x $1.06
I just want to prove rot myself that they were the same.
and then will have some extra either way as I am sure I will lose and brake as I keep fiddling with car.
And these seem to be ubiquitous.
So now we know that those two clip p/n referenced here are identical and the right ones for the purpose of the missing frunk cover clip, (not the ones in the PEC drawings) except one is blackened and the other one is silver.
I purchased several of these clips. One was MIA and I figured if one had gotten legs it might not be the last one to do this.
Part Number 955-555-278-00 was the least expensive of the potential options. I paid $1.04 each. It also is exactly the same as the original that I still had.
The original clip is on the left and the new clip is on the right. The new clip appears to have a bit more tension, but otherwise they are identical and function identically.

apparently these get misplaced all the time according to my service manager. Case in point, before I figured the part numbers, he reached out to tell me that he had found an errant clip on the “shop floor” and was saving it for me.
meanwhile I had ordered the two different part numbers to have extras:
Windshield Pillar Trim Clip Part # 999-507-839-01 $0.85 (black - matched what I had) Windshield Pillar Trim Clip $6.36 Part # 955-555-278-00 $1.06 (silver - exists elsewhere in car)
and PAF827649 of which I also ordered a couple of extras and is from some reason more than 10x more expensive but is identical to the other except for being a bit smaller is the clip that holds down the lateral pieces near the fender in the frunk.
again. Clips that disappear.
service techs just pop these things up and the clips just pop out and they don’t pay attention when they disappear.
I can only think of another similar thing. Socks in the dryer.
