My understanding is that a large percentage of 911 sales are custom orders. With zero visibility into tariffs next week let alone 2-3 months from now coupled with looming recession, is anyone placing new 911 orders? I guess it's relatively safe if you have a refundable deposit, but I would think dealers don't want to do refundable deposits anymore unless mandated by state laws.
Before this started I was next in line for a T allocation and was expected anytime. I did consider canceling but decided to wait and see what the situation is when my turn comes up. I will not be placing an order if there are any tarrifs involved, especially with the $10k ADM that shows no indication of going away.
My deposit is immediately refundable up till time of the order. Once the order is placed, the refund is only available after the car has been delivered and sold.
I had an allocation for a turbo S back in february, but the dealer wanted a non-refuntable 10k deposit, for any reason. At that time there was no talk of tariffs but I just didnt have the 10k and told him I'd come back in a month for it. Then all hell broke loose. Suffice it to say, I'm very happy to have picked up the Carrera S, even though I wanted my first Porsche to be spec'd the way I wanted, but there's no way I was going to gamble on a potentially $50-75k surcharge because of a ridiculous tax. no regrets.
I just filled my allocation yesterday. My point of view is that there is no way to project how things will be in the Sept-Nov timeframe. So I rather have a slot than not with the car that I want after I have been waiting inline for a good 6months.

Honestly this is the way to approach it. If a tariff is demanded at time of delivery just walk away.
I did my GT3 order at MSRP last week. December/Jan delivery.
I paid 10k deposit at the order, but we didnt sign anything saying non refundable except my debit card receipt, which says GT3 deposit.
Will see what happens until then in terms of tariffs. At least I have a spot. I waited for this car for 4 years. I remember back in 2022 it had base MSRP of 161,900 and now 224k, thats crazy what 4 years do. Is it a 60k better car, no. But instead of paying 250 for a used one, Id rather get a new for 260. At least Ill have full warranty.
My 22 GTS well equipped was 158K. Cant find a T in that price now.

Youll need to change your username when your GT3 arrives: GT32026.

That certainly is a good tactic. However, if tariffs end ADM, perhaps result in modest price discounts, reduce or eliminate those pricey/required dealer add-ons and make allocations less rare maybe as much as 50% of the tariffs would be blunted. Just speculating- but the 911 market will change. I am no fan of the auto tariffs by the way.
