My dealer invited me to test drive a new 2025 GTS this weekend. I was blown away by how good the ride was (in addition to the performance, of course). I'm usually not a fan of PSE due to past experience with a droning sound but this exhaust has none of that and when not activated, I find it actually quiet. But, my impression might be a bit misleading as I couldn't hear much of anything above the tire roar from the rear of the car. The last 911 I drove was a 992.1 C4 with 20/21" wheels. I don't recall that car having so much tire roar. Did Porsche remove some insulation from the 992.2 GTS?
They are all very noisy. Were they summer tires? I have found they quiet down when warmed up a bit. Likely your test drive was short and did not allow the tires to get to a higher operating temp.

The tires were summer, I drove about 40 minutes covering about 25 kms (15 miles). Outside temps around +5C (40F)

My 992.1 C2S isn't noisy to me. It’s a fairly quiet car IMHO.
It is so hard to get a sense of perceived tire noise because everyone has a different tolerance and it’s dependant on so many factors; roads, tires, tire pressures, wheels etc.
The tire roar on my 2022 Carrera varies from loud to quiet during each commute simply because of the varying road conditions I drive through
my 991.1 4s cab was much noisier compared to my boxster GTS ( both summer rubber driven in the same weather conditions ), I am not sure if the insulated glass on the 992.2 gts makes the tire roar less audible
I'm not sure which tires the car had. Maybe it is the outside temps but someone posted here that the GTS model removes sound insulation for a sporty feel. Porsche did the same in my 2021 Cayenne GTS which is definitely louder in the cabin than a non GTS model. I had hoped you guys could save me some road test time, but I guess I'll head back to the dealer this week and drive a C2 on the same route. on my GTS test drive, I measured 75 db on my iPhone app. While not completely accurate, it will at least be consistent from model to model.

Someone else said 40F is cold for summer tires, that is spot on. Noisy and no traction. These are noisy cars at all temps, took me two years of crappy and short test drives to finally pull the trigger 8 years ago when the 991.2 came out, On some road surfaces the noise is ridiculous.
