Default New key needed-expensive!

My new to me 2020 only has one key. Local dealer quotes 500 for key and 300 for programming. Sound right or expensive?
Anyone have any connections???

That's about right. You will find BMW to be about the same, Mercedes, etc. Gotta pay to play!

What is REALLY expensive though, is if you lose your one key. Now you have a tow to the dealers, and more involved programming. Suggest you put an AirTag on your existing key for now.

If I recall correctly, during the COVID/chip shortage, certain cars/models came with one key.

That's what dealer told me so it sounds right.

One of my keys was scratched up (badly) during shipping after European delivery. Porsche replaced the key and let me keep it, so now I have 3 keys all programmed for my car. lol

I would negotiate the key into the deal. If they want to sell a preowned vehicle, they should be including the second key at their cost as far as I am concerned. I know every time I have traded something, they are adamant on having both keys or wouldn't give the same trade value, so this should be no different.

That happened to me, but I got the second key about 8 months after delivery.

I was quoted a Cayenne key in the U.K. a few years ago. Same sort of money.

Honestly that sounds "good". I think I was quoted $1,200 for a key for my RS6. 😓

Yeah, Audi additional keys are really expensive. When my 2015 Audi S8 key was stolen, I was quoted $1000 to get a replacement. I just used my second key instead.

Yes, but they later contacted us with a second key, and dealer programmed it no charge.

Keys should cost $350 - the Porsche list price is $470.35. Anyone with Virtual Tester and FAZIT certification can program them for you.
