The majority of colors in the 911 (non-PTS) palette are dime a dozen across all current manufacturers--from Merc, BMW to Volvo and Hyundai. The 911 color range is built to encourage PTS for those who want a "different" color, which is quite frankly shameful given how much these cars cost. The Taycan palette is far more interesting.
Having said that, I'm of the belief the 911 makes the color and not the other way around.
I’m happy to pay the PTS up-charge, if PTS was guaranteed.
This vague, PTS lottery system is bs. Offer more ready-to-paint colors or increase PTS capacity, which, according to people in-the-know on RL, is not really possible given space and German regulations.
I debated this when i was in the market for a 4GTS. Not wanting to spec one i had to go with what i could find in the market. I found a car that was spec'd basically how i wanted it in chalk. Pulled the trigger and couldnt be happier. I love how it changes color depending on the light.
I couldn’t make it all the way through this video that someone sent me but it is a bit strange that there are so many of these ‘flat’ type colors at the moment.
I wondered about it briefly when getting my S/T in shore blue metallic (which is a misnomer - its really not metallic at all) but then remembered that i really don’t care too much about what others think if i like it.
Closer to Anchorage. Just past McHugh Creek area, I believe. I took that right after I bought the car. I sometimes forget how cool the driving scenery can be when the weather is nice here.
Having seen all three colors many times in person now, I think you chose wisely.
IGM > GT Silver
IGM >>> Chalk for a sports car
IMHO, YMMV
Chalk is beautiful. If you plan on keeping the car, in a few years when Grey's go out of fashion, the color will look timeless (pastels on 911s always look good IMO).
Bought my wife a Chalk Cayenne end of last year and was about to do the same color for my Targa, but decided to try IGM (sight unseen lol).
Do. Not. Regret. Some lighting make this look like Chalk! Chalk Cayenne behind it Nardo RS6 with Xpel Stealth for color comparison

Colour threads are always interesting. As always, beauty is in the eye of the "beer" holder
Kidding aside OP if you're still reading, a key consideration here is metallic vs gloss finish. Metallic paint in the sun reflects more light giving it different multiple hues and pop, while hiding swirls, scratches and dirt better (and is also harder to touch up than glossy paint). Generally metallic paints are more expensive than gloss and more durable.
Chalk is gloss paint with brown undertones which steered me away from it--on a cloudy day it's more of a light brown to my eyes. IGM is metallic paint with blue undertones, moving between silver and white depending on lighting making for a sportier, more modern looking mix of hues based on my own personal preferences.
I have chalk Maacn GTS . Since it it my 7th Macan I thought I would try a different color . I had been on the fence with it for years . On first take I thought it looked like stale mayonnaise . I graduated from that into an aging refrigerator . Then a friend sent me pics from his Macan road trip and another friend picked up a Gt3 touring and in the various pictures I became to like it .
Almost 2 yers alter I HATE it !! The worst part of it is that it's not so bad that it's an instant dealbreaker where I must sell the car . It thus prolongs the agony because there are moments I second guess my dislike . They are very rare though .
It's mot just chalk though . I am tired of all of the washed out colors (IE Arctic Gray ) . I am typically a traditionalist with colors (black , white , silver ) . At first I thought the chalk car would be my only veer from them but I picked up a second Macan in Gentan Blue as a CPO . Tl my surprise I LOVE the color for a Macan . It would mot be my first choice on 911 but I do look at it in good graces , Chalk is done though !!

Personally, I find chalk paint to be boring and unattractive. I think that black wheels make it even worse. It’s almost as if someone went into a dealership and asked the salesman for the most drab, characterless color combination possible. It is a combination that hides the subtle beauty and features of the car and wheels rather than accentuating them.
Totally agree but I extend that sentiment to the entire car industry. Whether it is a 911, a Macan, a Toyota, or anything else, the gray color is incredibly boring, lifeless, lacking identity and visual interest regardless of the vehicle's shape. I would take nearly any color other than gray. But if someone wants a car that color, more power to 'em.
