Default Opinions wanted

Looking to possibly get into my first Porsche and I'm weighing my options based on the current selections across the market.

I'm currently daily driving a CT5V Blackwing and as much as I love this super sedan, I have no real need for a 4 door car and utilizing this power on normal streets is such a riot but excessive for sure.

I've been looking at replacing the Blackwing with a 911 for daily duties, which currently consists of driving to the office 140 miles (roundtrip), 4 days a week (likely to change back to my normal 2 days a week at the end of the year), and also running errands or whatever else I need to do. Definitely would need a warranty to go with it (not trying to pay Porsche repair charges lol)

I've considered a 992.1 C2S as I have test drove one (first time actually sitting in a Porsche ever) and was impressed with the fit and finish of the car, how easy it was to drive, and how comfortable it was. Power I didn't really get to test but with a short acceleration to 5k RPM's, you could tell it had more than enough power for what I'd need.

My dilemma is that there are roughly double the amount of 992 Carrera T's available than there are Carrera S's.

How much would I be missing out on getting a T vs an S? I'm worried if I did decide to go with a T, that I'd regret not getting an S.

Just looking for peoples opinions on the difference between a T and the S, or if anyone has experience going from one to the other.
Thanks!

This thread may help a little but for what you are doing as far as daily driver, the C2S would be my choice:

https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1358...ed-help-2.html

Other threads as well that may shed some light. Just google it and it will probably point back to RL anyway. Easier than hitting the search function on the page.

Honestly- that is a lot of miles per week for DD so I would just get what ever build you like that is the least expensive of the 2

Drove a T and it felt slow.

I ended up with a GTS. Probably would get an S if I were in your shoes.

For me, none were available.

This is more what I was concerned with. Considering what I drive now I'm worried this will happen if I went with the T.
I still have to test drive one.
I also hear that the NVH in the T is much more pronounced due to lighter weight material.

S over T daily duties for sure.

T is meant for the “manual or bust” crowd IMHO
S is the perfect sporty commuter with the sound deadening still in place etc.

Word of warning: if you like to listen to music/radio make sure the car has at least BOSE, as that’s (not even kidding) the basic minimum for what even an economy car speakers would sound like.

For daily driver comfort and if you want better upgradeability (already has the bigger turbos), then I think S is the way to go.

If you want more of a raw experience with the removed sound deadening, etc. then go for the T. Having driven both and now owning the T, I can say that while I do still prefer the T overall for the engagement factor, I don't think its a better daily driver than an equally or better-equipped S. Yes, I am in the "manual or bust" crowd and proud of it but I concede that the NVH in the T is more than most people looking for a GT car experience would want to put up with. It's not slow by the way... feels faster than the 991.2 GTS I also drove back to back with a T before I bought mine. Not sure what was going on there, but its the strongest 380hp I've ever felt, that's for sure. If its not enough, then get a tune. If that's not enough, swap GTS turbos on and you are sitting at 550 whp (600+ at the crank).

Honestly, I don't think you can really go wrong here. Pick whichever one checks more boxes for you in terms of options and price point, and then enjoy!

Agreed, it needs a tune to be "fast" by today's standards.

If you are used to power, skip the T and search for an S. Big difference between the two cars.

You will crush the resale value with that kind of mileage each week, let alone other mileage. High end cars get killed on high mileage at a young age, let alone expiring warranty at what less than two years. I would suggest a daily driver and get what you want for the weekender.

You gotta be kidding. People are turning 2:08 laps at Watkins Glen in stock 991.2 T s. Unless your hobby is drag racing bros in Teslas, the T has plenty of power. A 992T can handle OP's commute.

The real question for him is what level of creature comforts he needs for his commute. I think a luxe spec base or S would fit the bill better than a T for a commuter.

My advise you should test drive the Carrera and Carrera S back to back. It would be perfect if you can test drive a Carrera T and Carrera S to make the direct comparison.

The horsepower is not everything in order to feel the acceleration/power, keep in mind the CT5V Blackwing is 800 lbs heavier than Carrera T.

I came from BMW M which has more hp than the T, but the T doesnt feel slower for road driving.

But if you worry about craving more power then an S or GTS is what you should look into
